I would check the thermostats (regular and hi-limit) and the flame sensor, first. All are fairly inexpensive and common problems. Less common issues are the igniter and the solenoid for the gas valve. If it starts to heat, then stops after 10 minutes or so, look at the dryer coils. I would check each of them in that order (unless you have the last problem).
A good parts supply house (and many online parts supply sites) will have good diagrams. You can order online or find suppliers in most areas in the Appliances-Parts section of the phone book.

My whirlpool gas dryer will not heat. It only spins.

If the dryer won't heat but does run, it is more likely to be the gas ignitor assembly, assuming there is gas available to the dryer. If the thermal fuse was bad, the dryer wouldn't start at all.

No heat

Should be a cover about the size of a quarter on the front lleft bottom...pop off with a small screwdriver and start dryer....look inside and see if the glow bar lights up...if glow bright orange, probably good, may need gas solenoids or ignitor

Dryer does not release any heat

Is yours the gas model? If so I need you to look for some things. Open back door panel and see if while trying to light the igniter is glowing orange. Sea Breeze

Hi thanks for the question. most times the problem is with the thermal fuse . failure is caused by clogged venting. clean all vents . the thermal fuse is located on the air duct, inside the dryer on the left , a small piece of plastic, with 2 blue wires to it . replace thermal fuse. thanks the appliance doc
