Question about Toshiba 55H70 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Toshiba ws 55809 not powering up

I couldn't find the actual model of my TV listed, but figured I'd ask. My TV just went down, now when I power it up I hear the relay and the light on the front lights up but then it dies after 5 seconds or so. No picture, no sound. I have years experience soldering and testing electronics. Can you point me in the right direction as to where to start. I don't have a service manual. Thanks

First of all, post the model number here in the body of this discusion. Second, check the horizontal output transistor for a shorted condition. That is perhaps the most common failure part. This will be a 3-legged part attached to a heat sink close by the flyback transformer. It will be marked C5438 or something similar. Post the marking here and I'll give you the part number etc.

The power went off and when it came back on the tv wouldnt come on but the timer light is lit

First thing is to unplug the TV for several minutes, replug, Power LED shouls flash for around 90 seconds then go off. Try to power up then.
If the power LED does not stop flashing , or the TV will not turn on still, it will need a repairman.

Not worth to fix.Either power supply, sensor or convertion board are too costly for the part.Buy a new TV.

This could be many things, most commonly you would have a power supply problem or a fluid leak, I would look closely at the front of the boards for liquid on them. Let me know what you find
