Air compressor runs but will not pump up? - Campbell Hausfeld No.FP2028 Gal Pancake Compressor

Do you have an air leak or the compressor may be bad and not pumping air. as it runs.

Contact the manufacturer. The rings are not seating properly and letting air/water bypass into the crankcase.

If it is out of warranty, I would put in a new set of rings and check the cylinder bores for damage.

remove shroud and see if fan is broken but may be piston is shot

Without knowing what make compressor you have;
- if it leaks air while the pump is running, replace the unloader valve
- if it leaks air after the pump shuts off, replace the tank check valve

It seems like the compressor head is not pumping air.
No air pressure at all on gages at all? No air leaks? disconnect the compressor head (t- joint) and varify air is or is not being pumped.
Compressor air inlet filter section, you can also varify that air is being sucked in to the compressor head there by the pump action.

5hp and 3450 rpm are the standards

Inccrease the line pressure to 90 PSI, a air ratchet is a very high volume air tool and the compressor may not be able to keep up with it.

Remove the air filter and see if the inlet is sucking air if so the unit is pumping,if not the valves could be bad or the piston is broken.

Sounds like the problem is in the air bag suspension, not the compressor. The air bags shouldn't be losing air when the car sits. The compressor adjusts the suspension level according to the load. The air bags have a valve similar to a blow up raft that allows air to pass through both ways. If when the car is running the compressor is constantly running and not turning off, the issue is within the air bags and/or the air line.
