Dear i_mckie224,

Most toilets you will find that the cistern lid should lift off without the need to remove any screws, nuts or bolts. some on the otherhand, such as the Dudley Elite, sometimes has a screw on the top of the cistern that you need to turn in order to remove the lid, but generically, as said, they should either lift or slide off. If you can provide me with more details about the toilet itself, then I will be able to assist you in finding the answer

Yours sincerely

How do I get to the Pozzi Ginori Cistern that has no no lid

Funny system. You usually have a large access panel of access from a tank room behind. Removal would be opposite of installation.

Hi i have a closed cistern on my toilet and the flush wasnt working! Eventually got lid off after much turmoil and flush works without lid but when lid is fastened on - it flushes but water keeps syphoning...

If water is constantly running into the cistern you will need to change the rubber washer in the shut-off valve. Washer kits are available from most DIY stores. Turn the water off at the isolating stop-****. Unscrew the end of the inlet valve (watch out that any springs etc. don't ping out) change teh washer and reassemble in reverse order.

Cant get the lid off a push button cistern

There are some dual flush cisterns where you have to depress one button to reveal a cavity in the second button. Put a screwdriver in that cavity to left out the second button, then release the first button and pry that out.

Underneath the buttons is a screw which must be unscrewed to release the cistern lid.

Not sure if this will apply to you... but if not, good luck anyway.
