The power wont turn on the power light goes yellow how can it be fixed?

Ok if you have a yellow light at anytime you have yellow light of death and need to reflow the cpu and gpu chips. If you have just red light on and does nothing else you need a new internal power supply.

Yellow light and off: Power supply and board might have been overheated, pulling the gpu and cpu off the main board.

Red blinking light, board is overheated and the gpu and cpu has pulled from the board.

Both are easy fixes for a professional and should cost you no more then 100 for power supply and fix or 50 for the fix. That's what I charge. Anyone who charges more is ripping you off. It is even better if you can try this yourself, but reheating the board yourself is dangerous if is done wrong and can leave you with an incapacitated Playstation.

Well you can fix it yourself using a good guide or you can send it in to be fixed.

This is probably not stand by but the yellow light of death which producrs a yellow, red light on the power button.

this is known as the yellow light of death or ylod..sony charges $150 to fix...if you have any knowledge of electronics...you can find a fix on youtube...just google ylod solutions or yellow light of death solutions..sorry..i had the same problem twice..luckily i paid 75$ for the lifetime warranty at toys r us........

try a new power cord to see if thats the problem, then buy a new one.
