Question about Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera

1 Answer

5700 - Images turn out Black and Smugged. Help plz!

I know there's a common problem with this type of camera, and nikonusa.com has an advisory where they'll fix it for free. But I live in Canada and they do not accept it for repair if it is shipped from Canada. Is there any other alternative?

Nikon CoolPix 5700 - I see nothing but a black screen in the LCD monitor and the viewfinder of the objects I wish to photograph. However, the camera's settings are displayed as usual at the bottom of the monitor screen. All other features appear to be working just fine. Please advise. Thanks for your help.

Regarding a black or no image screen, it's a manufacturer error which Nikon will fix for free, even if you bought the camera second hand. Go to http://www.nikonusa.com/email_images/nik...
I just got mine back - took about five weeks because they were out of stock on the CCD (Charge Couple Device) that they had to replace. Don't give up on the camera. It's worth having it repaired since all it will cost you is to send it to them.

The Sony may have the same problem, Search on the Internet for key words:
Sony DSC717 ccd advisory. This camera was made in the time when the ccds had a problem (1999 to 2002).
You may want to call Sony for this one.
Sony made the ccds for many brands including Canon, Nikon and many others.

Nikon E5700 digital camara. Camara turns on, everything looks good, shutter opens but only see black through the view finder, monitor and will only take black pictures. I reset camera to factory...

There is a service advisory out for Nikon E5700.

t has come to our attention that in a limited number of COOLPIX 3100, 3500, 4500, 5000, 5400, 5700 and SQ digital cameras, an electronic component may, in some instances, fail affecting your camera's performance and/or operability.

While only a limited number of COOLPIX 3100, 3500, 4500, 5000, 5400, 5700 and SQ digital cameras are affected by this advisory, if your camera presents symptoms that can include (1) images with a strong color tint, (2) images that are totally black and/or (3) images with visible defects, Nikon will, upon confirmation that the problem is associated to this Service Advisory, service your camera free of charge.
