Hi i need to know what cable i need to conect my lap top to tv ? my lap top is a dell latitude d610

Depends what your TV supports. You could do vga to hdmi cable if your tv is newer, this will only do video since vga doesn't support sound. You would need a headphone jack to whatever your tv supports for sound adapter.

I want to hook my dell latitude d610 to my emerson hdtv can you help

If you are using the S-video TV out connection from the laptop then you need to have the S-video cable to connect to the s-video input in the TV.

You have not specified which emerson TV model you have. But in general emerson TV has got the S-video input connector. See page 10 of the manual. You can also connect the headphone connection of laptop to the L and R audio input of TV. You will need the adapter cable for this.

Scroll to the bottom of this page for details of TV connection.

Please accept the solution if useful otherwise post a comment so I can help you further.

How do I connect my dell laptop to my LG LCD TV

1. S-Video – This is probably the most common method out there currently because an S-Video cable is cheap as heck and just about every TV under the sun has a S-Video port. You’ll have to make sure you laptop is equipped with this port. Remember, there are two types of S-Video cables: 4-pin and 7-pin. Most laptops and PC’s are equipped with a 7-pin port, so if your TV only has a 4-pin S-Video port, then this method will not work.
2. VGA – If you have a HDTV, then you will be better off connecting using a VGA cable. It gives much better quality than S-Video and as with S-Video, the cable is very cheap. You usually won’t find a VGA port on regular TV’s though, so this option is if you have an HDTV.
3. DVI - DVI stands for Digital Visual Interface with “digital” being the key word there. The digital signal will give a higher quality picture than either S-Video or VGA. Of course, your computer will need to have a DVI connection and your TV will need to be an HDTV. This cord is definitely not cheap, it ranges anywhere from $40 to $80.
4. HDMI – Using HDMI will give you the best quality by far. No computers that I know of yet have HDMI ports, but you can get a DVI to HDMI cable to connect it to your HDTV. HDMI is compatible with DVI.
5. Scan Converter Box – This is the last method that I could think of and it involves using a scan converter box, which takes a VGA signal and converts it into S-Video or component video.
Here’s a graphic I created with some pictures of the various cables:

I have a sorround sound lg and im trying to watch a movie and there is no image. my tv says that i have no signal but the sound comess out. i dont know what to do.

Sound comes out because your player is working and speakers are connected to the DVD/VCD/BlueRay/ Home theater (what ever your player is). However, you may not have connected the video cable to the TV. (I think this is the case because, usually when you connect the video cable, LG pops up a message; something like: New input connected, Do you want to enjoy it with a Yes/ No option, which you can select using the remote. If you have connected the video cable you need to select the correct input in the TV. Click the input button on your remote. That will show you the various inputs, use the right/left arrow to scroll through the active inputs. If you are connecting an HDMI cable to connect the player to TV, select it. If you use A/V cable select it. If you are using a S Video cable, select that. If a component cable is used select that as your input. Once this is done correctly you will have signal. Hope this helps. Anil

Hook-up from d610 to tv

It is possible that your laptop drives EITHER its own display OR an extrnal monitor such as your TV. Look for a Screen Swap key on the laptop keyboard. It is usually a "Fn" key and requires you to hold down the "Fn" (Function) key whilst you tap the screen swap key. This key usually has a small picture of two screens seperated by a / . Hope this helps. Ian.

Trying to hook up dell latitude D610 to television with an s video cable

Once you have the physical cable connected (make sure you are connecting to the TV's S-video IN), press Fn+F8. This should switch your video out to the S-video cable.

Projector projects red screen.

My take on this...if that pin was *shorted* to another pin in the connector and not just bent, you could be looking at a damaged video input section. The pins in the video connector consist of the 3 color signals(red--green--blue), their individual grounds, and syncing. If this has indeed happened, which is *VERY* easy to do, the projector must be repaired by a service facility.
