Are you aware if the AA battery are weak it looses it radio station.if u replace the AA battery already the display board should be replace. in case it need 2 or 3 board go for max cost repair rather than replacing individual parts by your self it will cost u more. at the center they can discount the cost of the repair ask for max cost if needed.

My grundig satellit 700 will not power on with mains or batteries

This could be as simple as a connector working loose. You need to open the radio by removing the 4 screws in the back of the case (2 are under the handle, and one is in the battery compartment). These screws are identified by a small arrow pointing at the screw hole. Once the screws are out, gently pry the bottom out first (the top has the catches in it), then pull down slightly and remove the back side of the case. there will be one wire on a connector going to the battery compartment you will have to disconnect before the back of the case is entirely free.

After the case is open you will have access to the connectors on the RF board. Make sure all 4 connectors are fully seated. There is another connector under the RF board going to the processor/display board you will need to check if the other 4 connectors are OK. You need to remove the 5 screws holding the main board in place so you can remove it to check the last connector.

You do not need to reassemble the radio to check to see if this has worked. You can plug the AC adapter in and test by pressing the power button.

If this does not work, there is a fuse you can check. These rarely fail, but it is possible. The fuse is located near the external power receptacle, and is mounted on the component side of the audio/potentiometer board. This is the circuit board with the volume, bass, and treble controls on it. You will be looking at the solder side of this board, but by tilting the radio up (with the back cover off) you cann see enough under the board to see the fuse. You can pop it out of its holder and check with an ohm meter.

Tivoli PAL volume problems

I posted this tip elsewhere but the FixYa site is, shall we say, challenging.
After years of use my Tivoli PAL started having volume problems. The audio began popping, volume changed erratically, static, booming, almost feedback sounds.
In my case, and others as well, I've gleaned, the problem was the volume potentiometer. Apparently it oxidizes over time and the poor electrical contact is the reason for the erractic audio.
I'm not an electrical repair kind of guy, so this isn't pretty.
The volume and frequency controllers are secured to the knobs with metal collars. I pried the collars loose and got the horizontal board off, I sprayed Stabilant 22 into the volume pot. There are other electrical contact cleaners as well.
Put it all back together. Let the flud dry. Good as new.
Good luck.

My radio will not turn on i dont know where the fuses are so i havnt checked them

Most portable devices have a thermal fuse built into the transformer instead of using traditional fuses. I suggest installing batteries to check if the radio will come on, if yes! the plug in ac power is the problem, if no! the main processor in the item is the likely cause and the radio should be replaced. If you unscrew the back and remove it, follow the plug in to the circuit board where the fuse should be located if there is none, the power transformer is fused on the inside, only option is to replace transformer, but not cost effective.

Battery will charge but radio will not turn on iv changed fusse inside but no joy

There are two fuses, one on the power supply board and another on the battery holder board.

Check to see that power is going through the switch on the volume control.

Check to see that the radio pc board is getting power.

Look here for parts diagrams and user manual:

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

Tivoli model Satellite will not turn on. Had intermittant power issues. Moved the radio and it will no longer power on

The power control problem is easy to fix.

It can as simple as a fuse (I'm sure you check it already) or a switch that is piggy back on the volume control.

Radio Shack has a similar one HERE

Disconnect the AC outlet and open the main Tivoli unit.

Look at the back side of the volume switch and you will see a power switch piggy back onto the volume control.

You can bypass it or get the correct value Potentiometer + SPST switch.

Use an ohm meter to meter the both end of the potentiometer and if it's 10,000 ohm or 10k then just go to Radio Shack and ask for
10K-Ohm Audio Control Potentiometer with SPST Switch Model: 271-215 | Catalog #: 271-215

It's a direct replacement.

If the ohm read is other then 10K then you will need to order it for an electronic supply house.

Tivoli makes great radio.....if you want to sell it I want the first dip.

No Battery Power

Late with this answer.... Battery tabs sometimes loose contact with signal board near volume slide, possible solution is to reapply solder and bend contacts slightly.
