Question about Sony Grand WEGA KF-50WE620 Television

Non HD channels blue or green

I guess it's my turn. I have the Sony KF-50WE620, have had it since it was new 3 1/2 years ago. The HD channels are fine but the others SOMETIME come in with a mostly Blue or Green color. I have changed the lamp but no change.

Any help would be appreciated.

The probelm does not work when running a DVD, only with non HD cable channels and it is intermittent. It does seem to occurr when the TV has been on for a while. Example is we are watching a non HD cable channel and the image is fine. The channel is changed to any other HD channel and the HD reception is also perfect. When we then return to any non HD channel, the image is mostly blue. If the TV is turned off for a long while, there is a good chance the non HD channel will come in correctly.

Go to menu. Select either video or setup. Select convergence. There could be one or two setups. Try the automatic setup first. If it's just a minor problem this should work. Let it do it's thing and if all goes ok you should have a good picture. If this does not solve the problem do any other convergence setups available. If this does not solve the problem you probably have a bad digital convergence box. Less than $100 part but you'll need a tech to fix it.

hope this may help;

Any issues using a DVD player directly. In other words, does this problem show up when you are not using a tuner?

I'm sorry to disagree, but convergence issues are not selective based upon the input signal. We need to determine whether or not the problem is inside the tuner. Please try an external video source to determine this.

    Thanks,

How should I connect a Sony Wega KF-50WE620 to an XBox360 ?

Since the TV accepts HD signals only via DVI and component inputs, the only logical way is to use the "Xbox 360 Component HD AV Cable" as show in the link below:

How to hook up your Xbox 360 or Xbox 360 to TV

The TV will not accept a VGA input. A cable converting HDMI to DVI would also require that you break out the L + R audio channels, too. The one I mentioned above does this all for you with no degradation in video signals.

I have the Sony KF-50WE620 projection tv, its 2004 model and suddenly doesn't work anymore. When I turn the tv on, the light steadily blinks green and there is a strange shattering/windchimey sound that...

it could be the lamp but it might also be what is called the color wheel.. have you checked the lamp .,, have you removed and physically looked at the lamp. also does the light blink after shutdown.

Sony KF-50WE620 - 5 Flashes

5 flashes indicates ballast malfunction. 4 flashes indicates fan not working. I would replace the big fan in the back because it is a common failure for this model. But befor this check to see if the lamp door is warped from overheating. If it is the wiring on the balast good be burnt and the light engine could be damaged.

As technology evolves, Sony continually looks to stand behind the reliability of its televisions. It has come to our attention that a very limited number of televisions manufactured between 2003-2005, after a period of time exhibit a stationary scribble / random line pattern on the screen. Click here to see photos of this symptom.

As part of our commitment to quality, Sony is announcing that for any owner of this model television who paid out-of pocket expenses on or before May 26, 2006 for an estimate or repair service to replace the optical block for this specific issue, Sony will reimburse the customer by mail for his/her parts and labor expenses. To receive reimbursement, please follow completely the directions and terms on the claim form for reimbursement; all claims must be postmarked by May 31, 2007.

In addition, for any customer who later experiences this issue on one of the affected models, Sony will cover the cost of the optical block repair at no charge through September 30, 2007. All other terms of the Sony limited warranty continue to apply.
