This only happens once in a while. I have tried to change the flash to see what it does. But all the pictures are a blur and have a white haze around them.... Only in dark setting or in the light but with shadows. I have never had to change the flash setting and I have had this camera for over a year with no issues till now.

Tracking controls for VHS should have no effect on the DVD player. If a pre-recorded DVD is distorting the picture, along with the VHS, then there's either something wrong with the TV it's played on, or the connection, between the two. Or there is a fault in the electronics of the VHS/DVD combi that deals with the picture.

Canon lens locks when taking a picture.

Mirror lockup is probably enabled. You can disable it by going into Menu and then Custom Functions. Select Mirror lockup and disable it.

Camera takes blank pictures on closeup.

Have you set the camera to "Micro" mode? Usually a button or dial setting with what looks like a Tulip on it.

The flash will not work. I think something needs to be reset but not sure how to do that.

On the Navigaton direction button on the back of the camera the "Right direction" button has a little lightning bolt sign.

Repeatedly press this button while the camera is in picture taking mode to go through the flash settings sequence. (Watch the display while pressing this button)
Settings:
1 No Flash, Lightning bolt circled with slash across it.
2 Auto Flash, Lightning bolt with an "A" beside it.
3 Auto RedEye remover, includes an "eye" symbol.
4 Flash Always On, Lightning bolt alone.
5 Unknown, I don't know what the S mode is, I haven't used that one before (something to do with ISO virtual film speed setting).

Have fun.
Hope this was helpfull.308b6a1.jpg

My powershot A630 will not take a picture. When I press the button a lightning bolt appears? Any idea what is up?

The lightning bolt indicates that the scene needs flash. Turn on the flast and try again or try taking picture in P, Av, Tv or M modes.

Pictures taking too long, and a lightning bolt symbol appears

Hi, Could you please tell us what camera model this is?
I believe you replaced with new fully charged batteries.
Try changing the memory card. Old defective memory card will delay between shots.
If it still doesnt work, try updating the firmware of the camera.
Hope it helps...

Portraits underexposed

Whenever you are taking pictures of people within six feet of them, it is a good idea to turn on the flash - whether you are indoors or out. The Flash mode is easily accessed via the arrow pad on the back of the camera. Press the right arrow key, which has a lightning bolt icon, to enter the Flash Mode. Press the down key to select the lightning bolt icon and press “OK”. The flash will fire every time in this mode. Your outdoor pictures of people should improve in appearance since the flash will fill-in shadows normally apparent in outdoor shots.
