Apparently not getting gas. How do you clean gas lines?

You can try and tighten it .Its a compression joint might just be loose . You can buy a kit to change the line to the pilot from a plumbing shop .

The main jet section of the carb apparently has some clog in it and the engine will only function properly when it is getting the gas it needs with the choke on. Carb needs to be cleaned out and/or replaced.

when it happened to my car; it turned out to be the fuel pump failing; apparently pumps don't like ANYTHING but gas.

Using needle nose pliers slip the split line off the connection and pull out of the gas tank. If there is a filter on the end you need to extract through the gas cap opening. Purchase another gas line either in a repair kit or individual line and cut to fit. If the filter is bad, use a new kit. Insert through the gas cap opening and pull up through the supply line opening. Be sure the connection is clean then slip the new line onto the clean connection.

Put some gas in it before you ruin the fuel pump. That is step #1.
Next, try running a heat gun or hair dryer over the fuel lines from one end to the other, if you suspect the fuel lines are frozen.
Hopefully that will be enough to get it going.

find the filter pull it off and clean it if u cant clean it replace it they usally are cheap on older vehicles but with the filter off turn the car have someone turn the car to the on position so the pump is pumping and see how good it is coming out of the line if not very good then your gas tank line to the fuel filter is clogged but if its fine check the next fuel line the one on the fuel rail there is a bolt on the fuel rail crack it open and have someone turn the key if gas comes out then you are getting fuel and that would mean your injectors are bad

The fuel line is self bleeding, if there is a lot of air in the pipe there must be a hole in the pipe or the filter is not completlt submerged in the fuel.

I have done this. You might have crossed the fuel lines. Check them. I know its a pain in the **** but it;'s worth checking apparently you forgot or overlooked something or crossed lines.

The carburetor may have inhaled some trash, debris or parts of fuel line. Remove the cover on it that does not have the vent-hole in it. Inside on the carb body you will see a very small fine-mesh filter screen. Make sure it is not covered with debris. If so, clean it up and replace cover. This commonly gets dirty and needs to be cleaned after lines deteriorate.

a bit of air tool oil might help, make sure you are not getting condensation in the line, otherwise you may have to dissassemble to clean
