Question about Kenmore 24032\24036 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Washing machine My Kenmore model is 110.92480200. Problem is: It fills with water, but nothing is telling the water to stop. It will keep running, as the timer doesn't rotate. Agetator doesn't work no matter where I turn the dial, but water will keep coming in. The drain/spin mode does work and the dial turns at that point only. Could it be the timer? It costs over 100.00, so I kinda want a second opinion. Thanks, Steve

You just saved me at least 100.00. If I had replaced the unneeded timer and still had problems, I would of paid a repairman to come over, or replaced with a new washer. You may have saved me around 500.00! Instead it cost me nothing and my wife thinks I'm a genius! Thankyou!

Water level on works at large load level. Will not stop at small and median load levels.

On all cycles the water level will only go to the low mark, if it is on med or large load setting the water will come in a drain off

Remove the left and right edge trims on the control panel
remove the phillips screws under the edge trims
raise control panel ~1 inch and flip over backwards.

  • ensure air tube is attached( water level sensor operates off air tube from bottom of drum to control body, (bottom is not loose or there would be water all over the floor))
  • Blow any water out of the air tube, it should be empty when the washer is empty, water remaining in the tube messes up the pressure sensing(usually makes water level lower so doubt this is the fault)
  • ensure wires are connected to control body.
Kenmore pressure switches are adjustable, the adjustment is hidden.
An internal spring stretches over time and does not react properly.
to test whether just the adjustment is required,

  1. remove the water level knob from the front side of console
  2. depress the lock tab at the right side of water level sensor body where it contacts the back side of the console and rotate counter clockwise 45degrees
  3. withdraw water level sensor body
  4. adjacent to shaft for the knob is 1/8inch bolt head, turn clockwise to raise, counter clockwise to lower water level.
  5. washer can be operated with the console open and the level body removed just dont shock yourself on the cable connectors
  6. test, adjust, test adjust. (water level switch may need to be flicked hi-med & back to test adjustment
  7. if no effect replace water level sensor body
The water level switch body contains a small spring that is not really up to the job and stretches over years,
do this repair, on call, no parts, takes 15 minutes,, 3-4 times a month

The problem is the pressure switch has failed or the hose is plugged up, has a hole in it. These are usually inexpensive and are very easy to replace. Here is a video this will walk you thru testing and replacing a pressure switch. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available.

The wash machine will fill but wont stop filling

If it stops filling when you turn it off, the water level switch is malfunctioning. If the water runs in regardless, the water inlet valve needs replaced.

Washing Machine Keeps Filling with Water through Detergent dispen

This machine has a water valve that works on vaccuum from the tub. You will see a small clear hose that runs from the side of the tub up to this valve. This valve is adjustable to change the water level in the tub to desired setting on some machines, but if it goes bad, it will not shut off, thus overflowing the tub. Find this valve and replace it if adjustment does not work.

filling and never stops and never agitates? then check level switch and hose, any hole in the clear hose to the level sw can cause this. if airtight then replace level sw.

Kenmore washer model 110.24642300 fills with water and then does nothing. Tried other modes such as spin, but it stills does nothing.

I had the same problem.
The sensor which determines whether or not the lid is down may be going bad.
To tell - turn the washing machine on and let it fill with water. At this point, the washing machine stops. So raise the lid and place a screwdriver into the hole around the collar of the washing machine. This is the same hole that the lid, when closed, presses into, activating the sensor to notify the machine that the lid is closed so it can begin washing.
