I have a Benq FP71E, that has started to not display desktop when the XP screen saver mode is cancelled. When left idle the computer goes in to screen saver mode. (I use the xp saver) However, when I move the mouse to go back to desk top, I get only a blank screen. I have no power options like, standby, hibernation etc on.I usually have to shutoff/restart the computer several times until I get a desktop displayed. Or have to use a backup monitor. There is no rhyme or reason for this happening. I need help, because this problem is driving me nuts. Do I get a new monitor, computer, video card?. By the way , my computer is a emachine T5026, processor 519, 3.06 GHz, using Inte Graghics media Accelerator driver ,Inte 82915g/gv/910gl express chipset family, onboard video.

Re: BeNQ FP71E Monitor won't display desktop
The problem seems to be with the monitor. When there is no Display,if you power-off and on again do you get a Benq Startup screen? If not the problem should be dry solder on the Invertor board.Try tapping screen lightly,if it comes on the problem is dry solder on Invertor board.

first problem could be the hdmi cable you are using is loose or broken.second, the display mode you selected was wrong, try to go to desktop and right click and choose nvdia control panel and choose the nview display mode to use, select the only use one display(single)and apply.
Try checking the settings in properties for this device to make sure they are as you left them. YOu can also uninstall the drivers for the card and reinstall them to see if that takes care of the issue.
Thank you for providing your configuration details.
You have failed to specify wheather or not your LCD Display is under Warrenty.
Perhaps these simple trouble shooting procedures will get the job done.
1. use the DVI to VGA adaptor that came with your card
Plug in a regular CRT monitor to the Primary Display Output Port using the DVI to VGA adaptor
( either port can be designated as the primary by you )
I like to use the Port nearest to the motherboard as the Primary
2. plug in the your LCD monitor on Secondary Display port using your DVI cable
At this point you should be able to see your desktop on the Primary CRT Display
3. Go to the display properties and use the Nvidia Dual Display Setup Wizard
set both desktops to CLONED at a resolution of 1024x768 and set the refresh to 60Hz
which is default for most LCD displays , some have higher refresh rates , consult your user manuel
If the display resolution and refresh are set incorrectly for your CRT or LCD you will see
Signal Out of Range ( if the display has the ability to display that error message )
At this stage both displays should be showing a Windows Desktop
If you now see your desktop on both displays , you can now put the LCD on the Primary Port
No Signal Detected ( this means the display device is not receiving a signal )
If your LCD display is still displaying the error message
"No Signal Detected" after performing the trouble shooting proceedures
You may need to read the user manuel about how to enable DVI signal input.
If you are certan you have done everything correctly but still see only "No Signal Detected"
This is called burn-in mode. Used to test the monitor at the factory.
To fix this, use the buttons under the front of the monitor,
There are six buttons. Let's number them 1 to 6 from the left.
Press 6 to display menu (at the bottom in Red will say Burn in mode on)
Press 4 or 5 until Recall is highlighted
Press 6 to select
Press 4 or 5 until Recall All is highlighted
Press 6 to select
Press 4 or 5 until Yes is highlighted
Press 6 to select
Press 3 to exit
This will reset all paramaters and also turn-off burn-in mode
If you want to reset some parameters to your preferences, press 6 again to bring up menu and
see you user guide to get explanations for the different settings.
Do you have your screen saver enabled, i so turn it off and se if it still does it.
Secondly boot your pc in safe mode(pressing F8) on boot up and select start windows in safe mode.
See if the monitor still does it, if so a monitor fault or loose/faulty vga lead.
If it is ok then your graphics driver may be corrupt and need re installing.
