PCI (payment card industry) certification for 3200

My 3200 is working fine, but my card services company (Elavon) wants me to upgrade to a Vx570. They say that effective 9/30/08, support will no longer be available for the Omni (and others using technology older than 15 years. They also hint that the 3200 may not comply with the new security standards established by PCI.

Can you tell me if the 3200 is PCI compliant?

Thank you.

Guys,

Did you have to turn your answer into a sales pitch?

Anyways:
If you are referring to PCI compliance, that would only relate to PEDs (Pin Pads or terminals with internal Pin Pads). Since the 3200 only uses external pin pads and they can be PCI compliant Pin Pads then the terminal is fine. (The 3210 however is non-compliant sine it uses an internal pin pad)

If you are referring to state and fed law requiring receipts have the account numbers truncated on both the customer copy and the merchant copy, then it is also compliant on most platforms since the terminal is still class A certified with most of the larger processors such as FDMS, Paymentech, and TSYS.

In some instances PCI Compliance is reliant on the processing company you are using and their technology capabilities or limitations. I work for a different processing company and have some current clients that will continue to use their 3200 into the future.

We have no intention of eliminating our support of these terminals and our technology allows them to be PCI Compliant. Our support of the terminal is in-person and Local, in addition to live 24/7 customer support on our 1-800 Help Desk line.

Feel free to send me an email at vince.furnish@e-hps.com if you are interested in learning more.

Need driver for

It is not your computer that needs drivers, it is the hardware you need to connect to the operating system that needs a driver. From Windows 7 and up, Microsoft only allows drivers, if the manufacturer asked for certification and the hardware and driver and they work conform Microsofts demands. If the hardware and driver is certified the driver is also on the Microsoft website. Most of the time if you use new hardware the operating system goes to Microsoft to see if there is a correct driver and then installs the driver.
For older hardware, only few manufactures make drivers and ask certification. Most only develop drivers for their new hardware. So for older hardware there are only a few drivers. If Microsoft can't deliver drivers, or the manufacturer from the hardware can't, you are lost. The devices won't work with the new operating system. Nobody told you that before upgrading. Since I upgraded to win 7 I could not use several expensive things I was used to, like a great Logitec webcam in a sphere, a great sound card from Creative labs, with break out box and so on.

Dead HP 3200 series printer

The only fix I have used is a cold reset there is a firmware upgrade you can try if this does not work.
TRY THIS:
Turn the machine off and unplug for 1 minute or so.
Plug the unit back in:
Press and Hold the enter/menu key and asterisk key
Turn ON
Hold the enter/menu key and asterik key while the unit powers up. Once you see the message "Permanent Storage Initialization" let go of the keys.
Hope this helps
