OK the best idea is to get a fresh Bootable copy of XP SP2.. and install that. Do Not install Norton. You can find copies of XPSP2 on the net and then Download, make a CD/DVD and install.

Remove the virus or restore the harddrive to factory restore. Try to backup you data if you can before you restore the harddrive.

Sorry to hear that. The best thing would be to get a Windows or Mac Installation disc and put it into your CD drive. Turn your Computer off. Turn it on. And when the Manufacturer's name appears, press F2, change your boot sequence to boot from the cd-rom drive first(before the hard drive) then save the changes. Simply follow the installation intructions and it will initially give you instructions on formatting the harddrive and installing a fresh operating system! Good feeling ay?

Harddrive corruption - Computer not booting-up

My friend....sorry to tell you this, but there is only one solution for your problem. And that is to a clean reinstallation of OS. Only that will kill all virus and trojans on the hdd.
And after that be sure that you ALWAYS have an updated virus protection program running.

Good luck M8

My procomm plus issue

Procomm Plus and norton 360 are compitable to each other but r not not compitable to work on your operating system .u will just need to format your pc and clean the Procomm Plus files from it and then also delete the norton 360 from your operating system.and then u will be able to reinstall the Procomm Plus after formatting the pc.then instead of norton 360 install any other antivirus software like symantec or avg

Swaping hdd

You have half a dozen reasons why this will not work. The Operating system (XP) does not recognise the different hardware, the Bios doesn't recognise the MBR (the file structure of the harddrive) and you have all the wrong hardware drivers installed.
There is a way to do this if you have the original XP installation disk, install the harddrive, put the XP installation disk in the CD/DVD drive and set the machine to boot from the CD/DVD first. When the machine boots up and goes to install XP follow the instructions as if you are doing a fresh install, when SetUp attempts to format the harddrive it will discover you already have a version of XP installed and will give you the option to repair it, go ahead with the repair and MAYBE SetUp will be able to see and install the correct hardware drivers. If not you are looking at Slaving the harddrive, saving your personal files and then formatting the harddrive and reinstalling XP fresh.

it is all to do with the installation. You will need to install windows freshly. the disks you are using sound like they are recovery disks but if you have formatted your harddrive then they may not work.

if you have a windows disk and are trying to load it and are having problems doing this then let me know

Operating system not found on any devices

well, it probably doesn't recognise that you have an operating system (if you do) because of possibly a corrupted installation...try reinstalling windows on your harddrive, but it's recommended to format anything on your harddrive before you reinstall windows....if you need to backup what you have on your harddrive, you could buy a casing for it so that you can make it external.

Problems with harddrive

yes, you can reinstakk a fresh copy of your winxp be sure you the OS(Microsoft XP)Xp and all the drivers that you need. For the password problem, restart your computer, and then start pressing F2.once you're in your BIOS(a blue window that has some white textes).try to change the boot sequence.make your cd/dvd rom first on the list and then save and exit and then it will restart the computer.once you'll see a warning,"press a key to boot to cd" immediately press a key(enter or something).then you will go to the window set-up.(for a detailed installation guide just go to this site:http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/winxp/install.mspx).BE SURE TO BACK UP all of your important files before reinstalling your OS,okey.for OS reinstallation-it will take 30-45 minutes to finish.with regard to your HD, it would be best if you'll buy a new one.A hard drive that has a bigger capacity.40GB or 80 G or more.the problem wit 4GB, is when the free space of your HD will be less than 2GB.you'll experience a slow performance in your computer.it is advisable to have more than 2gb of free space on your c drive
