The display driver on my Inspiron 530 keeps failing, the screen freezes/glitches or goes black, then starts functioning again about 5-10seconds afterwards. This can happen several times in a few hours,...

This could be a problem with your monitor, your vga cable or your graphics card, or a combination of those so you need to eliminate them. It would be useful to test your monitor on another machine if possible to eliminate the monitor and cable. Generally Dell also have on their CD's a diagnostics utility that you can boot into to test for example the graphics card. By a process of elimination, you will pin point where the problem is. You could also double check your electrics..!!

I have a Foxconn 755/760A01 motherboard. The problem i have is that quite often the monitor screen goes black and the mouse goes off although i can still put the caps lock and num lock buttons on and off....

This sounds like your video drivers are corrupted.
Find the newest drivers and install them. ATI, nVidia or Foxconn sites will have the latest drivers. If that doesn't help look for a possible heat event...check the log in the BIOS. If you have a mainboard that has heat protection monitoring, check the settings. Clean out the CPU fan and the heat sync...with Blow Off canned air...Hope this helps you...good luck

Dell flat screen goes white and colored block appears and floats

Check that your monitor is connected properly and tightly to the computer. If it is, then the monitor may be bad. Borrow a friend's monitor and try to see if it works, if someone else's monitor works, then replace your monitor.

Monitor displays breifly then goes to blank screen

If tried the monitor on two other computers with the same result -- definitly your monitor is faulty. Take it to the repair shop. To make double sure, run your computer with another monitor. If everything is fine now; you can blame the monitor.

You can either try to reset the BIOS, or have the restore cd fix it for you. By the way, what does the message say?

Monitor goes black suddenly

nvdia 6600 requires a minimum of 450 Watts of power to ensure that everything works properly. So if you want to continue using your nvdia card, an upgrade will be necessary.

If you want to test to see if it is the nvidia card, you need to remove the card physically from the system, then boot with the onboard video. This action will eliminate any conflicts between the two video cards. Before doing this you may need to go into device manager and make sure the onboard video card is not disabled.

Its more or less your monitor has gone bad.
To check the same , unplug the monitor from the computer , a slef test feature check would be displayed . Check if the monitor goes blank or shows ghost lines . If yes the monitor is bad. If you have got the system before 12 Dec 2005 its generaly covered under 3 yrs warranty. If purchased after that , it would have your system warranty
