Question about Televison & Video
SOURCE: Tv shuts off
I had the same symptoms. I replaced the lamp and fixed the problem. But then I looked at the old lamp. There was a dust buildup on the screens which cover the cooling holes. I blew off the dust and put the old lamp back in- it worked fine!

Check out the fixYa solution for the Samsung LNS4051D- it sounds like the same problem. Defective capacitors. You may need different part though. We just fixed my mom's LNS4051D with that problem. I have the LNT4665 and although it hasn't failed yet, I am tempted to get some capacitors just in case.

If the lamp has been replaced I would think the Lamp ballast would be most likliest followed by the color wheel and then the Digital board. You can get any part needed for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com just leave them a email they respond quickly.

This could be either the lamp or ballast. I'd check the lamp first. If you've never replaced it, 5 years is a HELL of a long time for a lamp... when you replace it, you'll notice a brighter picture too. Sony uses Philips, so only buy Philips from an authorized agent. Make sure the date codes are new too, because you don't want old stock lamps.
