Try to see if you can upgrade the firmware...mine did this so i upgraded to the latest firmware from Dells website. It actually had the upgrade already- but it formatted the drive & fixed the problem. Luckily i keep a file backup on my pc so i didnt lose anything with the format. It worked for me, so it might be worth a try for ya; if it doesnt- well ... i found several 20 gb DJ2s on line for like 50 bucks. would problably cost you more than that to fix the one that you have- just a thought
My zune lock switch completely broke off in the locked position. I used a paper clip to remove the small plastic tray under where the switch use to be. It came off pretty easily. Then I could see a small black toggle switch can I was able to flick it in the unlock position.
Okayy. This has happened to me too, firstly check you have the latest itunes software. http://www.apple.com/downloads/
Surprisingly this can make a difference.
If nothing else works i would back up all music on a cd or memory stick, and reinstall itunes.from there everythings set as the default settings so if anything has been changed to cause itunes not recognising the ipod this may fix it.This is how i fixed mine.Hope this helps!
It may not work, but.
Find the reset hole in the side of the E10 and perform a reset (you shove the end of a paper clip in the hole)
I have fixed my wife's and my daughter's by this method a couple of times!
I have had the same problem many times and would like to see an update
tothe firmware to fix it. Here is what I did. Rurn the lock off and
connect it to the usb port and press the reset button (small hole in
lower left of unit, use a small object like a staple. The screen should
change eventually to the "USB connected" screen. Disconnect the USB at
the PC to get the "Ok to disconnect" message. Pull out the usb cable
and hold down the "off" button. Eventually the unit turned off.
I apologize this isn't a solution but I wanted to let you know that I dropped my Rio Carbon player this morning at the gym and now mine won't do anythin either. I reset the player and then I received a display message of 'upgrader." Per the websites instructions i tried to install the most recent 'firmware' and it still does nothing. When it restarts itself it goes right back to displaying 'upgrader' I installed the firmware software a few times per the instructions and still nothing has happened :( I am sad and frustrated at the same time--mine was maybe used a dozen times. I hope we get some feedback to our problem--and again I apologize I didn't post the solution.
