I bought a JVC DVD/VCR recorder/player model DR MV-150B. I cannot record movies to DVD on HBO,Showtime and Cinemax and some other channels.. It says"COPY PROTECTED CANNOT RECORD". I can record to VHS but can't copy these movies to DVD. It gives me the same message, "COPY PROTECTED CANNOT RECORD". Has anyone had the same problem? I was wondering if there was a work around for this. Thanks
Re: I bought a JVC DVD/VCR recorder/player model DR...
It is against the law to copy protected Shows/Films etc. The copyright protected notice is to ensure the actors and production staff get wages. Hope that explains it.
Thank You. I knew it was unlawful to copy them and sell them but how does the companies that make DVRs get around this. I only want to record and watch later and then erase,Thank You. You can read what JVC is telling about the recorder. It is not an digital tuner, but still you can record a DVD and watch another channel or vice versa.
do not feel bad.......all DVD recorders can not record those channels nor any Disney kid tapes........as you say you can record to VHS (thats it) as of the last season of the Sopranos HBO put that electronic copyright in place...trust me every channel follow once DVD recorders became hot......there was a gadget not sure if its still on the market (Sima copy master is what I use for that last season) I dont use it any more, cant find it really.......
I got mine on-line, though I've forgotten where. Do a search using "JVC DR-MV1 manual". If all else fails, I could send you a copy, The pdf size is 8196 kb.
The JVC DR-MV1S DVD Recorder / VCR Combo does not suppport DVD+R, only DVD-R, -RW etc.
At least mine only supports these formats, as when I first bought mine, I got some blank DVD's they were DVD+R.
I recorded a movie onto one on my PC, then tried playing it in the JVC unit... no go!
Instruction manual (available for D/load online) proved to me that I could not play +R disks!!
