Hello everyone, and thank you for taking time out of your day to help diagnose my problem! Onto the problem...

Yesterday (January 31, 2009), I took my computer to my house, started it up, ran it all just fine while hanging out with my girlfriend, listened to music, the usual Saturday afternoon thing. Every time I take my computer over, I pack it up in a suitcase with all the wires and carry my speakers, M-Audio Studiopro 3 monitors, seperately. I usually carry the suitcase down my basement stairs, making sure the comp doesn't bump up too much. After we had to leave, I did the usual packing and put my computer in the back of the truck with my monitors on top of the suitcase (I say this because they have magnets in them and was wondering if that could be the cause of the error). I brought it back home, started her up, and it booted up to the Windows XP loading screen, then before it could show up my mouse, or my desktop, it resets. I tried multiple diagnostic solutions. It appears that the kernel32.dll file is "missing" from my hard drive. I tried a few things, such as running CHKDSK /r on the Windows XP CD recovery console (DOS mode diagnostics), and I've tried renaming the .dll to a .old then expanding d:\i386\kernel32.dll (that's when I get the file is missing error.) I have one more thing yet to try whiwh is copying the .dll to my system32 folder. Is there any other possible solution to this problem?

Are you sure its asking for a driver or does it say

    "System Failure, Insert Boot Disk"

    or

    "Kernel32.dll Missing"

Sometimes you need to do a low level format, rather than the Quick one.

Bootmgr missing

Hello,

You are not alone in this problem. There are people who are experiencing the same problem. If the problem isn't hardware related (which usually isn't), then you can fix this problem if you have the windows DVD handy (I'm referring to the operating system reinstallation disc).

Insert your OS DVD to boot to the disc.

Just follow the onscreen instructions and click next. After that, you can find a link in the lower left hand side that says "Repair Your Computer"

Just click on it and the computer or OS will try to find the fix to the problem by checking the disc. The computer will automatically overwrite the missing bootmgr and it should fix the problem.

If you have any problems right after doing this fix, please let me know.

By the way, I suggest that you isntall RadarSync to your computer so that you won't have any problems with your computer's driver. Hardware drivers are very important and they are sometimes what causes problems in your computer.

Hope this helps,

I have an Acer Aspire 3630 and when I turn it on, it comes up with a message saying "NTLDR is missing Press any key to restart". Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this, I do not have any CDs etc

It has to do with your operating system. The NT loader file is missing that's why it won't boot. You can download NTLDR or the best way is to reformat you laptop.

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} To install new version of XP. Insert XP CD into drive, reboot pc pressing ESC button, or delete in some machines. This takes you into BIOS, change your primary boot device to CDrom, save changes and reboot. Select boot from CD once this appears and wait for files to be installed. Select the part of the hard drive you wish to use for your operating system (usually the largest) and select partition this drive. Delete any previous os, and reformat hard drive. (Be aware this removes everything saved on your hard drive, so always back up first) Re boot afterwards and reinstall operating system.

How do i reformat?

You are accessing the DOS command via your OS so of course your drive is in use.

Use the original install disc to reformat.

Creating recovery discs After setting up the computer for the first time, be sure to create a set of recovery discs of the full factory image. the recovery discs are used to start up (boot) the computer and recover the operating system and software to factory settings in case of system instability or failure.

If you have reformatted the hard drive there's no windows there at the c partition anymore for you to boot into. If so, read about format and reinstall on google.
