Tailgate Lock/Latch Problem

After removing and reinstalling the tailgate latch/lock mechanism (for a body repair), I incorreclty reinstalled it and can no longer open the door from the outside (the latch does not "Click"), as if it is locked. I can get out the little punchout from inside, but can not seem to release the latch with a screwdriver. Can anyone Help? Thanks.

Within the little round punchout, I stuck a screwdriver in and moved around any parts I could until I lit the latch mechanism. I hear a pop and gave a push. Lucky I guess.

Honda Jazz 2014 how to replace tailgate lock

Replacing the tailgate lock on a Honda Jazz 2014 involves several steps. Here's a general outline of the process:
  1. Open the tailgate: Begin by opening the tailgate and locating the lock mechanism.
  2. Remove the trim panel: You will need to remove the trim panel that covers the tailgate lock mechanism. This may require the use of a trim tool or a screwdriver, depending on the exact model of your Honda Jazz.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connections: After removing the trim panel, you will need to disconnect any electrical connections that are attached to the lock mechanism. This will likely involve disconnecting the wires from the tailgate lock switch.
  4. Remove the old lock mechanism: Next, you will need to remove the old lock mechanism. This may require the use of a socket wrench or pliers, depending on the type of mechanism that is installed.
  5. Install the new lock mechanism: Once the old lock mechanism has been removed, you can install the new one. Make sure that the mechanism is securely fastened and that all electrical connections are properly reattached.
  6. Reinstall the trim panel: Finally, reinstall the trim panel that covers the lock mechanism.
It is important to note that this process can vary depending on the exact model of your Honda Jazz, so it is always a good idea to consult your owner's manual or a professional mechanic for specific instructions and guidance. Additionally, it is recommended that you wear protective gloves and safety glasses when working on the tailgate lock to avoid injury.

2009 Ford F350 tailgate latch stuck in the open position, tailgate won't latch closed.

I am not quite sure, but on the sides of the tailgate, where it locks, can't you push the mechanism back? I think you can. It either turns them from latch to open. You can try this. See if you can push it into lock mode.

2004 avalanche tailgate lock will not unlock and the tailgate is up without access to the inside. The lock turns to the unlock position but does not unlock.

The lock mechanism is likely bent because the latch has become rusted or plugged with dirt. Lift the handle and spray lots of WD40 in the centre of the lock mechanism (under the fibreglass piece). You will need to manually open the lock with a long screwdriver. Look to the right of the latch mechanism you will see something that looks like a C. Use the screwdriver to lift that piece up. That should unlock it so that you can open the tailgate. When it's open, you'll have to use a torx screwdriver to unscrew the outside two torx bolts and then remove the plastic bevel which surrounds the latch handle. There will also be two plastic pins holding the bevel onto the tailgate. You may have to gently pry those pins loose with a screwdriver. When the bevel is off, the lock will come with it. Check the lock to see that the little metal lever is at a straight right angle. If it is bent you will have to straighten it with pliers and then reattach the bevel. If the metal lever is broken, you will need a new lock.
