Check engine light on.Had the 4 oxygen sensors replaced. couple months later...its now on again...think having two new mufflers put on has done something. just bought a Maxiscan ms309 CAN OBDll code reader. can i use this product on my truck to figure out why light is on.Thank you
Any OBDII scanner should work on a 96 or newer chevy. High flow mufflers combined with K-n-N styles air filter will cause mass air flow code it puts air flow out of range. Truck will still run fine like thisAny OBDII scanner should work on a 96 or newer chevy. Did any of these mechanics put a scanner on this car? There would have been codes(02 sensors, catalytic converter, map, mass air flow, and coolant sensor could have been some of them). Black smoke is too much gas/fuel. Another thing that wouldn't throw a code would be the injector/s stuck open (would result in hard starts). Since you replaced two Map sensors, I wouLd also check for power and ground at this sensor. Check the wires good, as it could be inttermitant.
2nd air supply is not a oxygen sensor problem, they screwed up, and also ive done many with frozen oxygen sensors, you heat the manifold to remove i even had some take the threads out and i retapped them, this code is a bad airpump or a secondary air flow valve.they misdiagnosed the problem and now its going to cost more than it should have, they guessed!!!where not talking about a $50.00 mistake where talking hundreds of dollars, they have to do something, eat the parts they put in,give you a refund for that or repair this problem for free,no ones perfect everybody makes mistakes, just own up to them when you do. good luck.
It should be close to the muffler. You can change it however the engine must be warmed up in order to remove the sensor. If you change it make sure you use anti seeing commpound when you replace the sensor. Prices vary from $15.00 to $100.00. Check with auto store for price. Might get a better deal on Ebay.
It sounds like you have either a lean or rich condition ocurring, could be exuast leak, vac leak, leaking fuel preasure regulator, cat convertor. At this point would go to dealer for diagnosis.
its the O2 sensor for sure. normally, its good practice to change the sensor when changing out the muffler and cat system. doing it all together will prevent the sensor from faulting.
If work was performed either without permission from you, ie: o2 sensor? they cannot charge you for it. If work done is sub- standard, you have the right to a refund or correction to problem (at no charge) If any work done fails within 60 days, Same applies. (this is common to most state laws) Noise and discharging sounds like a broken serpentine belt or bad alternator but I can't see/hear it from where I'm sitting. In my opinion, if the shop did not adress this problem, shame on them. But since they did no repairs related to this, they have no liability pertaining to that issue. Best thing to do is to have them resolve problems they caused, then find a more reliable shop to service your vehicle in the future! Your state may have a complaint resolution department as part of DMV. It wouldn';t hurt to get them involved in this> Good luck, RS
