The Dryer wont start.

I have an electric dryer that all of a sudden lost power. It will not come on nor will it make any ticking noise if the timer is set. The breaker was not tripped. It will not do anything.

Some times the dryer works and sometimes it won't start. When I rotate the drum backwards it works again so I know it's not the power source. Any suggestions?

Often the main wiring connection from the house at the dryer burns, and the connection breaks. Verify the connection at the back of dryer, and if visually you can't she the brake then check for voltage (240). If there is not enough voltage at the terminal block-replace the terminal block and the cable.

Kenmore dryer 70 series 66722690 - has power but won't start (no humming noise, no ticking noise from timer, and no light when you open door) nothing!

I would check the breaker before you go any further. Here are some things to remember when you do this. 1) The breaker for the dryer is generally located outside on the side of the house somewhere near the electric meter. Most 220vac breakers are, which include any electric range, cooktop, wall oven, etc. 2) When your checking the breaker, actually physically touch it. Sometimes breakers can trip a but the spring that actually pulls the breaker to off position is weak and by visual inspection would appear on. Just simply reach in and tap the bar lightly in the off direction. If it pops over to the off position, turn it back on then go check your dryer. If the breaker passes inspection, I would unplug the machine because there migfht be a short at the terminal block where the plug connects to the dryer. After you've unplugged it, remove the back and check to see if everything is ok. I have a strong feeling that you won't need to get to this point cause I'm betting on breaker.

Kenmore dryer makes the ticking noise but when we push the button to start the dryer it wont start. What should we look at?

Please check your Thermo fuse
and ticking noise should not be there unless the dryer is on which means that your timer is acting up

Timer ticks, but dryer does not run

Sounds like door switch. Open door and push on door switch. you should here a clicking noise. If you can open the top of the dryer. put the 2 wires together of the door switch. Make sure it is unplugged when doing this. Make sure you use electrical tape when you put it together. Temp fix. Get a new switch

Dryer stopped all of a sudden. Gets power because i can here the timer ticking but the light and roller does not turn on

Possibly lost one of the the three power wires. The heater uses the 220v but the lights and motor use 110v from one side and the timer from the other. should be a schematic on the back of the dryer.

Electric dryer wont heat or turn off

there could be a temperature switch that tripps off. look at the diagram and trace also the power to the timer motor. it seems that you lost your power to your timer motor that is why the timer stays @ what ever setting you set it.
