Is power connector broken at the charger side or the device itself? If you are able to tell the model we can check for you possible options, There are also universal chargers that you can take the battery out and put it into charger.

Good Luck

Charging connector is loose

Yes, you have found the problem. The mini-USB jack is broken, preventing the battery from being charged. However, you can charge the battery by using the 660's snap in cradle and bypass the USB port. If you want the jack replaced, please see this link:

http://www.sharc.net/gps_charger_repair.htm

You will want to fix the jack because you will not be able to update the firmware or map until the jack is fixed.

HI I have Zumo 550 when I first switch it it comes up with can't maps press OK you press OK then starts to work but starts at 1am on the clock and in night time mode after awhile it goes to the right time...

If your zumo 400 or 500 series will not power on, or performs strangely after powering up, follow the steps (described on the Garmin website) below to perform a soft reset:
  1. Connect the zumo to a power source such as a computer or AC outlet
  2. Hold the zoom (+) and ON buttons at the same time for five seconds
  3. If this does not restore power, remove the battery for five seconds
  4. Place the battery back in the zumo
The zumo will now power on. Because the battery may deplete while the zumo is locked up, it is ideal to leave the zumo connected to power to allow it time to charge.
Once the battery has charged, follow the steps on the Garmin site to update the operating software in the zumo. (just copy this link to get there https://buy.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?caseId={8576ba20-e948-11dc-d6fc-000000000000} )

Good luck,
Michael

When switched on it goes into loading maps then switches off. Also if I put it onto charge it shows up what appears to be a computer and lead then sticks. ac

The icon that you are seeing means its in data mode, not charge mode, so your unit is never having the chance to charge because there are broken leads on the mini-usb jack on the back. You unit powers up, then goes off because the battery isnt charged.

The mini-usb connector needs repaired.

My Magellan Maestro 3100 GPS unit won't charge anymore. I've seen 2 possible explanations for this problem. #1: The DC power port is broken #2: The battery won't hold a charge any longer How do I determine...

if it starts, you can verifiy if its charging by going to the system settings then power options. the green indicator should be moving left to right. this indicates its charging.

if you disconnect the battery, your magellan should still work while plugged in if the power port is ok.

this is very common problem with this and many model magellans.

try the car charger.

make sure green light is on the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (up to ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

the following magellan 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3100, 3140, 4000, 4040, 4050 and the 6000 are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port...

you can get it repaired, here
or buy the port here

if you need further help, just let me know.

Tomtom one xl usb socket broken off main pcb

I have gone around this problem by removing the internal battery, and soldering a female power connector to it.I now it on 3 aa batteries, alkaline cells givbe me an autonomy of about an hour, maybe duracells will give a bit more duration.

When i have time ,I will work on splicing the wires on the cigar plug adaptor and use that as a permanent power source. The wires for the Lipo cell are Red positive, solder this to the yellow wire( probably a battery gauge wire) and black ground.

Hope this helps

Very poor workmanship from TOMTOM

Tomtom battery not charging

MIne had the same problem. Seems that there is a pin inside the machine that fits on the inside of the connector that goes in bottom of machine. That piun was broken off inside the charging end and only made intermittant contact causing machine to go flat.
Contacted TomTom and since it is over 2 years old and I cannot find my original receipt they will not fix it. They agreed when I suggested that should I throw it in the trash?
What about that for customer service No More TOmTOm products for me.
Also the power switch was so diffcult to turn on or off, often needed a coin to get it to switch.
Also my street not on their maps and its been here for 15 years!

If you can find a Torx security screwdriver of the right size you can get to the inside. Since they will not even repair mine for a charge I have no other choice.

Pop the face plate off with your thumb nail right uner the Garmin logo. On the right side you will see a reset button. Depress it for 2 seconds. Replace face plate and power back on.

Navman repair

Any electronics repair place or perhaps a camera repair shop should be able to fix it for your. Search google or your local phone book for electronics repair or camera repair. This is a very easy repair IF you are electronics savvy, but not a good first/learning project. This will require either soldering a loose connector back to the board or they may need to find and purchase a new connector to replace the old one if it is broken.

Broken Power adapter

external power adapter? if you broke open the gps receiver and used any glue make sure you didnt coat the silver looking tiny metal parts or you just insulated them from the power adapter.. scrape off the glue gently with a small flat screwdriver. double check your wires to it the center conductor is usually white or red but the outer is ground or copper braid or black wire also check and make sure you didnt solder splash short the connector. gently tug on both wires if they bust loose you need to resolder proper 60-40 rosin core. adapter problems is easy . get a meter and check for voltage out from it should be like 14 if rated 12v. also you can just plug it up and trace to point where the voltage is lost to battery. good luck
