In Device Manager, under System devices, disable "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio" then try the installation again. If it fails, uninstall it, then install audio drivers from your CD, then do a "Scan for hardware changes" to have it back.

Try this first:
1. Disable audio in BIOS before the installing Windows:
o During boot, enter the BIOS setup by pressing F2.
o Disable audio on the Advanced > Peripheral Configuration menu.
o Press F10 to Save and Exit.
2. Install Windows.
3. Install the latest Service Pack for your version of Windows.
4. Install the Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility (INF Utility).
5. Install all of rest of the latest drivers for your board, EXCEPT the audio driver.
6. Re-enable audio in BIOS:
o During boot, enter the BIOS setup by pressing F2.
o Enable audio on the Advanced > Peripheral Configuration menu.
o Press F10 to Save and Exit.
7. Restart the system and cancel any “new hardware found” messages.
8. Install the latest audio driver.
Restart the system.

there is a trick of installing hd audio.Remove all the drivers.
First install the patch of winxpsp2 , it should be in ur driver cd somewhere in audio folder.
then remove it. Again install it and then install sound driver and all other drivers.
It will definitely work.

Intel dg31pr board says have no audio device

I spent months trying to figure this one out on my own PC. I finally have the solution. Go to device manager (right click my computer, go to properties, Then hardware, then device manager. Click on the"+"  in front of system devices. Find "microsoft uaa bus driver for high defintion audio". Right click that and select, "disable". Then right click it again and "unintstall" the device. This will allow you to install the audio drivers on your disc, or ones you have downloaded to install without an error message. Once done install your audio drivers and restart your PC and windows should start dectecting your new hardware. An installation wizzard pops up. Install the files needed yourself from a specific location, not a disk. It will ask for location of file name "hdaudbus.sys". That file is in C:/Windows/System32 folder. If it's not there, which it should be, just find and download that one file but it should already be there. I have done all this on xp home ed, sp3. I now have sound, and my front audio panel works. Please let me know if you have any problems by emailing me at chadmon10@hotmail.com

Installation failed

Hi sunil27482, please create a folder on you're desktop & name it sound. Go to this Intel link & download driver number 3 into the sound folder.
Audio: Intel® HD Audio Controller - Realtek* Codec 4/29/2008
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2839&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Professional&lang=eng&strOSs=44&submit=Go%21
Once downloaded into the sound folder uncompress the driver software by double left clicking on the .exe file. You will now see a new folder named "AUD_allOS_5605_PV_Realtek".
Now go back into device manager &
Right click once on the yellow ! point & left click once on update driver. Windows hardware wizard will open. Click No, not at this time. Than click the next button. Another window will open. Left click once in the circle next to, Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Than click the next button. Again, another window will open. We want to remove the green check mark next to, Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...). Click the green check mark once & it will go away.
Click the browse button, click the + sign next to my computer. Find you're desktop & open the sound folder you created. Click once on the AUD_allOS_5605_PV_Realtek folder so it is high lighted. Than click OK. Windows will find the correct driver software & install it.
If you have any trouble, please list here the issue.

Good Luck!
Mike
