I accidentally loaded it unevenly and when it hit the spin cycle the whole machine jumped all over the place. Now the machine just fills up but doesn't agitate or spin. just fills up and drains!

The load probably caused the machine to shake so violently that the belt has come off the drum (can you hear the moror quietly whirring when it should be agitating)

Step 1, as always, unplug from the mains.

Most hotpoint machines have a removable plug on the side of the lid towards the front (A little smaller than your little finger nail). slip a knife behind the plug and gently lever it out (it has 2 little pins that fit holes in the lid) Once removed, you will see a torque screw (Star head) is revealed. Unscrew this screw on both sides.
lift the front of the lid very slightly and then strike the front surface hard with the heel of your hand, pushing it backwards about a cenrimetre to disengage the clips at the back of the lid.

It now lifts off.

Look down the back of the machine, you will see the big pulley that is attached to the back of the drum and almost at floor lever, you will see the grooved shaft of the pulley on the motor. Somewhere, you will see the black belt, lying on the floor.

Take the belt and put it back over the small motor pulley, then hold the belt in place where you want it on the big pulley. Slowly turn the large pulley, so that the belt slips back in place. spin the pulley a few times and make sure it is lined up on the big pulley nice and evenly. If it is a bit out, you may need to go back or forward a groove on the motor pulley to line it up.

Once you're satisfied this is done, rin the machine on a spin cycle (with the lid off and an empty drum). The belt should stay on and all should be well. If it is, put the lid back on and the job is done.

Have had washing machine almost a year, was working perfectly, now wants to bang and clang on spin cycle, machine is level, is there any internal adjustments that can be made

There is a concrete block which sits inside machine.check to see if the springs that hold it in place have not broken, check penny trap for blockages and don't overload machine.uneven spinning is usually down to machine spin at high speed when water isn't draining off clothes hence the weight is more uneven and causes the drum to hit against internal structure.

Hello. i have a kenmore washer machine 70 series that jumps all over the place when its on spin cycle and yes I did make sure the washing machine is level. I just don't understand whats happening

Hi P, I don't understand why I'm getting these questions, because I'm in the automobile section, but as I'm here and so is your question, here's the answer! The machine is being thrown out of balance. Try loading the clothing more evenly and see what happens. If the fault reappears it will be the bearings and centralization mechanism inside the spinning basket. Keep in mind that centrifugal weight is increased as the tub rotates. If all the clothes (or most are on one side) the weight increases with the speed and will make the whole machine shake. If its something which has recently started after having had the machine for some time, I would suspect a bearing or broken mounting inside the spin tub. Regards John

Rough, uneven Cotton Load spin cycle

Make sure the washer sits level on the floor and that the machine can't be rocked around due to uneven foot adjustment. The feet usually have rubber cups that cover the metal bottoms--one of the cups may be damaged or missing entirely. Hope this helps!

Model #fwtr647ghs- It washes fine bu there is a clunking sound that happens on spin cycle, like somthing is being hit

Hi I am Vortash the most likely cause of your impact sounds are the drum as it hits the side of the machine on spin .. this is a result of an uneven load and the fact that the suspension springs for the drum and support rubbers may be worn . The load evens itself out eventually and the banging stops I assume , as the centralfugal force evens the load and the drum spin becomes more balanced . Replacement or tightening of the springs is adviseable but it depend how old the machine is as to the economics of this .. regards Vortash
