Help - I seem to have taken all my videos on my new Flip Video camera 90 degrees to the right, and there are no instructions on the Flip software of how to rotate them the right way up. I don't have Movie Maker and am an absolute beginner when it comes to these things. On my normal Canon digital camera, it automatically displays images the right way up, or else there's sometimes a rotate button next to the image which you can use to rotate and save the image. What's the trick with a Flip video?

If you have Windows Movie Maker, here's an easy to follow explanation that I used when I was trying to figure it out.

You can import the video file into Movie Maker. One of the effects allows you to rotate the image.

Is there any other way to rotate the image if you do not have windows movie maker. It would seem like rotate should be a feature on the basic flipshare software.

Video clip was taken rotated

You can't without some very expensive software...and even then, the quality of your video will degrade significantly. Always shoot horizontally.

Held my Pentax Optio S12 vertically when I shot a video

I used DVDVideoSoft Free Studio. It's a free program that rotated my video 90 degrees, and I can now view the video without laying on my side to view it properly ... LOL.

CANON SD1000 can't TURN vertical downloaded video into horizontal

If you have windows movie maker (its part of the default installation of windows XP) you can use the rotate filter in the video effects tools.
Import your video into movie maker and select "Video Effects" under tools.  Scroll through the various effects until you find the "rotate 90".  Apply the effect and save the video.
I hope this helps!

Rotating the vedio clip

If you have windows - use windows movie maker. After you import the clip - go to toos>effects. Here you have the option to rotate it 90 or 270 degrees (depending on how you took the video). when you finish - plublish the movie. Now it should be rotated

How to rotate a video clip I took vertically??

Vista
Start - Programs - Windows Movie Maker
Click Import Media - select the video clip you want to rotate from your files and point and click on it to highlight it - then click the import button lower right corner of screen.
When the file name appears - drag the clip to the video line at the bottom of the screen - point at file name and hold down right mouse button while you move the mouse to point at the video timeline then let go of the right button to drop the video into the timeline.
Point and RIGHT click on the clip you just added to the timeline
Click Effects
Scroll down to Rotate 90 and click to highlight it (you could also flip the video with 180 or 270)
Click the ADD button
Then click OK
The video will rotate.
Be sure to publish and save the new video with a name you can find...
File - Publish Movie - to computer will save it as a file on your PC - to DVD will start another program to create a DVD...

Have Fun
