Question about Frigidaire ATF6000ES Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Timer Stalling My Frigidaire front load washer just stops at random points in the cycle. This happens during the regular wash cycle as well as the delicate cycle. It even stops when water is flowing in and getting pumped out during the rinse cycle. Stopping and starting the machine helps occasionally, but problem has gotten more frequent. I would check the water hoses for twisting, make sure the water faucets are turned on all the way, and check the filters at the washer end of the hoses to make sure they are clean. I would also check the drain system to make sure it is clean and the machine is draining well.

During the wash cycle, an error HE appears, and the wash cycle stops. the clothes are soaked with water

Hi areej, this is AP! Thank you for your post.

I understand you are experiencing an HE indicator during the wash cycle on your Frigidaire front load washer. I would recommend contacting a local technician as this appears to be a problem within the motor speed control board. However, I would recommend a local authorized technician to come out and properly diagnose and repair your front load washer. I hope this information helps.

Good Afternoon Leszek - Thank you for your question. Based on the symptoms you are describing it sounds like the unit has a faulty timer or a potential wiring failure. Try reprogramming the unit by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker to the off position. It is important to wait approximately ten minutes and then turn on the unit. If issue persists, then at this point I strongly suggest reaching out to a professional that can accurately diagnose and repair the washer.

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Frigidaire front load washer

One root cause of washer stalling in cycle (timer not advancing) on horizontal axis washers is electrical noise generated primarily by the timer contacts opening and closing which can interfere with proper operation of the speed control board. At times, depending on ambient environmental conditions, this electrical noise can cause the motor controller board to receive corrupt signals and remain on 'stand by condition' resulting in the cycle not advancing. By manually advancing the timer to the next step in the cycle or by turning the washer's power off and on, the electrical noise is discharged and the washer will perform until electrical noise may happen to interfere once again.
To resolve this issue, three jumpers have been added to the current motor controller board to reduce electrical noise levels around the microprocessor. Testing has proven this change to the board significantly reduces occurrence of control lock-up.
