About that bad ribbon cable

Hi

Did you ever find the ribbon cable for your laptop? Was it for an HP DV6000 series or the compaq nx6115 one?

HP wants $300 (yes...as much as a laptop) to fix my speakers.

Thanks

I repaired these units for a long time.... They have a serious flaw... the ribbons are too weak for the pressure being applied to the power button.... They develop 'waves' and then snap causing loose un-reliable connection to the power button and speaker panel...

First I want you to take a look at this post I made a while back about this issue. Check this thread out.

Now Here is what you can do... You could open it up and swap the media touch pad ribbon with the power button(the media touch pad is almost always stronger then the original power ribbon). This would be a very cheap fix, and would almost certainly going to work out for you.

Or you could buy one of those ribbons off eBay Here is a link to what you need. And you can either install it yourself or bring it to a computer repair place where they would charge you 100-200(at most).

Here is a link to my Step-by-Step guide on how to dis-assemble your note book... Its is very detailed and you shouldn't have any problem following it.

How To: Remove a dv60xx's top casing.

Hope that helps... If you have any questions... just lemme know.

Hey Boots_Calara,

In most of hp/compaq dv6000 series that i have worked on have bad ram , easiest way is taking out the ram and replace it. Or if you have a friend that has a hp or compaq laptop switch the ram and try boot it with there ram. Try it before you replace the bad ram.

HP Compaq nx6115 PC Notebook : Speakers suddenly stopped working

Hi,

This is Vikram Kumar Thumu, from India-Hyderabad. I have seen your message on the issue. I would like to provide my solution on the issue.

Well, this is issue not a hardware issue since you are able to hear sound by Ear Phone. This is an issue with either Conflict of IRQ or could also happen with driver of Audio is not working fine.

Please open the below link:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00833257&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=&product=3256602

it is an HP article that is applicable for Notebooks with Windows Vista... this article helps to resolve the issue related to Sound...

In Most cases the issue will resolved once if DRIVER of SOUND is uninstalled from Device manager and then by reinstallation...

I am sure that this will resolve the issue.

Note :

If you are using Windows XP, please let me know so that I can search for article for Windows XP and provide you solution...

if you have any queries on the issue, you can mail me at thumuvikram@rediffmail.com. I'll be glad to help you!!!

Bye...
