Question about Kenmore 24032\24036 Top Load Washer
This is usually a sign that your motor coupling is starting to go bad, or the the gearcase (transmission) is beginning to fail. A tell tale sign of a motor coupling failure will be black filings under the washer. You may also experience louder than normal agitation. If the gearcase begins to fail, you may see signs of a light (honey colored) oil under the washer. Both problems can be repaired by the do-it-yourselfer. The coupling is about a $10-$15 repair, while the gearcase will run you about $150. You will need to see if you can diagnose the problem a little further to be sure. If the gearcase is bad, the manufacturer may replace it at no cost. You will have to look at your warranty information. I think the gearcase if covered for 5 years. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need further assistance. I an assist with step-by-step instructions for both repair jobs.
