Laptop computer Hi, I own a Sony PCG-8W2L last night I was converting some videos in i-tunes to be played in my ipod and at the same time I tried to transfer some data to my usb drive, next thing the computer went in to a blue screen and shut down. At the begining I thought it was the battery but the computer was pluged in. Now if I try to start the computer shows a dark screen saying it will restart in 28 seconds next starts buffering windows for like 3 seconds and then shuts of again. My question is Am I going to be ablr to recover some of my data and what is the cost ?

Yes if the peripherals attached to it are compatible with that motherboard. Sony tend to do things their own way and make such upgrades difficult. It is always an interesting experience.

Or you can just upgrade the processor and leave the motherboard alone

You can try those steps:
1. Fet a video converter just like Leawo iPod Video Converter.
2. Convert your videos to the MP4 format with H.264 code, or you can choose profile as iPod Touch.
3. drag the MP4 videos into iTunes and sync into your iPod.

The WMA files will not play on your Ipod because I pods only play the AAC format for songs.
The songs you have has to be converted to AAC files to play on your Ipod...
You will also need to have I Tunes on your computer to download the songs to your I pod once you have converted your songs to the AAC format.
I believe I Tunes will convert the songs to AAC format for you, but just in case it does not:

where did you get the vids from. it sounds like the codec used for the vid is not ipod compatable. you may be able to convert them using free software like anyvideo converter or ipod robot. i tunes can play them because it has a greater library of video codecs (anything installed on the system... almost)

Hi everyone, I had this problem with the Sony MP3 players I bought for my kids (NWZ-S615F). There's a new (free) video converter from iWisoft (download.cnet.com or easy-video-converter.com) which does the trick. I looked into the others mentioned here and there were some virus/trojan horse concerns but so far this one seems fine. I downloaded the file, then did a virus scan, then ran the application and did another virus scan. I've used it 10-15 times since then and did another virus scan and nothing comes up so looks good. Choose the output file format as the first option under iPod. If it hangs while doing the conversion, try to run the output file before you get frustrated - I've found that most of the time the conversion was completed before it hung and the video plays fine.

Last night I was trying to play my Ipod but it didnt play. It wouldnt play any song and the timebar didnt move so that also didnt help it to work.
