Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Windows hangs in start up process, occasionally. Music plays and then system fails to bring up screen with icons. Have to manually shut off computer by holding on/off button and then restart and bypass the disc checking routine. Then it comes up fine.

I'd suggest giving registry mechanic a try or try run-msconfig startup and only start essential programs

When I turn on my Acer Laptop it brings me to a screen with options for Safe Mode ect, and other options like "Start up normally" When i click normal start it brings me to the Microsoft Windows...

Possible that PC is hanging up as there is fault on the OS ( operating system) and so the windows XP must be reloaded. Use a recovery disc if you have one . So if you are able to get to the main screen then open the internet options in the browser and clean all the cookies, temporary internet files, defragment the drives and RESTORE the PC to an earlier set date.

You can use a registry cleaner like Advanced system care. Download from the site and check you system for corrupt files. Also use a good antivirus software which is active to keep your system performing without an attack on the OS. Remove all unnecessary programs installed which you do not use all the time and clean up the drives. This will free up the space and make your system faster.
If there is no response but the PC tends to work slower and occasionally hanging when a program is being executed then you might have to install the OS once again. Install the OS and then an antivirus before the drivers of the PC is installed.

Studio 17 laptop stalled during uploading of a music cd into ITune libray. Manual shut down and reboot resulted in stalling of reboot process at 3/4 of the status bar with only the dell logo on black...

AS YOU ON THE SYSTEM AND EVEN BEFORE WINDOWS STARTS KEEP PRESSING THE F8 KEY CONTINUEOUSLY. A MENU WILL APPEAR. SELECT SAFE MODE AND ENTER. WINDOWS WILL LOAD IN SAFE MODE. THIS WILL SOLVE SOME OF YOUR PROBLEMS. NOW RESTART THE SYSTEM IN NORMAL MODE.

IF THIS DOES NOT WORK SELECT "LOAD WINDOWS WITH LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION " AND THEN RESTART. THIS WILL SURELY SORT OUT YOUR PROBLEM.

PLS REPLY OR COMMENT. THANKS

I press the power off button and it doesn't power off

You should never power down by pressing the power button unless your system is deadlocked and won't respond to any other actions. Powering off in this fashion can cause you to lose data, corrupt files, and improperly shut down Windows.

Nonetheless, if you are in need of shutting down the laptop in this fashion you must hold the power button instead of only pressing it. You'll find this in the power settings of the device. Honestly, the power button may even be set to do nothing, which is possible.

To properly shut down your new Pavilion laptop, which should be running Windows 7, follow this process: Click Start > Shut Down

Start is now simply a circular Windows icon in the bottom left corner of the screen and shut down has an arrow pointing down next to it. Click the words shut down instead of the arrow which will bring up other power save options.

My sharper image touch mp4 player has downloaded music that does not show up under the music icon, but it does show up under the files icon. I have to go into files and pick a song and it will play that...

you have to go to the music icon on the main screen. click it and then scroll down to "add to audio list" press "upward directory" the "music" pick the song you want click it, it will bring you to the name of the album. click that and it will show the song, click that. a little screen should pop up and say "sucess" it will then show up in your song list under the music section. you have to do this for every song.

HP Pavilion - No. icons or start menu; only wallpaper

Try booting in safe mode (press F8 repeatedly while booting) A black screen should appera with several boot options. Choose boot in safe mode.

This should bring up a cut down version of windows.

Click on start - all programmes - accessories - system tools - system restore - choose a restore point date prior to your problems.

Hello, My mouse plugged into any usb port after 2-9 minutes from start up stops working. None of my usb ports will work until I reboot, then the problem repeats again in 2-9 mins. Oddly enough...windows...

Try hitting ctrl-alt-delete exactly once bringing up the Windows task manager.

Click on "processes" tab.

Look for processes that are hogging the CPU. Check the "system idle" process and it should be around 90%. If it is way less as the thing starts to fail, find which of the processes is hogging the CPU. Analyze which and why. This could be a virus-like thing even or a "memory leak" where mermory is not properly returned to the available pool when a program terminates.

The pearl icon comes on but it won,t go any further the batteries are brand new

I have the same unit, which I think was great value for money, but occasionally it refuses to start up (it hangs at the welcome screen). Whenever it acts up, the solution has been to reflash/upgrade the firmware.

Download the firmware upgrade from http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2243/related/1, and follow all the troubleshooting instructions that popup when you start the program:

  1. start the program,
  2. remove the battery,
  3. hold the play button while plugging the RCA player into your computer's usb port,
  4. release the play button when the term "initalizing" replaces "searching",
  5. check the box that says "format data" (you can try it first without this checked, it may work and will save your music),
  6. click the start button to replace the firmware.

After I did this, it started up fine again. I hope that helps.

Compaq n600c hang problem plz slove my problem

Please give more information Like --
After how much time it hangs?
what OS u r using?

in general answer --
open task manager (pressing CTRL,ALT, DEL keys) this will bring up Windows Task Manger, click on Application, highlight any task that is Not Responding and click on End Task.

Also, to make your CPU boot up faster, I would
click on Start
click on Run
type msconfig.exe (this will open System Configuration Utility box)
click on the Start Up Tab
(you will see several boxes checked under Startup Item). And look for programs that you don't want to launch every single time you log on. (such as Realpayer, yahooMessegner, realsched, etc).
Uncheck the boxes and this will require a reboot. Your computer will bootup a lot faster. These programs you can always open when you want. You can always tell if you have a lot of programs that startup when you turn on your cpu and in the righthand corner, where the time time is at, you see a lot of icons.

Also if you can always open up task manager again, click on Processes, find explorer.exe and kill that process, this closes everything on your screen. dont worry...
then in task manager
click on FIle
New Task Run
and type explorer.exe and click OK
and you will see all your icons pop back up on the screen.

Post reply....
Thanks

Xp boots and hang up on blank screen

Insert the original Windows XP "System Restore" CD-ROM,
and tell your computer to "boot" from it.

Does it boot, and get to a screen that asks you "do you really want to ...", or does it stop at a "blank" screen?

If it "stops", you have a "hardware" problem.
If it "asks", then either:
* your disk-drive has failed, or is about to fail,
* your installed copy of Windows is messed-up, and it cannot complete the "boot" process.

Take your computer to a computer-store, for more trouble-shooting.
