2003 Ford Fusion 2. How to open the bonnet of a Ford Fusion when the release lever is not working?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to sub category.

Sometimes you can remove the lever in the car and pull the cable with Mole locking grips. If it is broken at the latch, there are various tricks, sometimes from underneath, or from going in through the front grille. Search query translated from British to American :>D I am a Brit in Canada.

How to open zetec bonnet with a broken pull lever

From the bottom. Few times have I seen it broke at the latch. Reach up and cut the cable in half( as far as you can away from the latch). Then cut a couple inches of the cable sheathing of at the latch side. expose the cable, then pull the cable to open. If it did break at the latch, then you'll need a long pick(right angle or hook). You'll have to reach up in the latch to grab the arm to release the bonnet.

How to release the bonnet on a ford transit 2000

you will have to come up in front of the radiator with a long lever and push the latch lever sideways . Use a friend to push down on the bonnet as you push the lever as it will release the pressure on the latch and make it easier to move.

How can I get someone to fix a hood latch that won't open?

I have seen instances like this and it was the cable that leads from the hood release latch to the lever that operates the bonnet that is worn out. If it's 2001 or older crv, try pushing the latch forward while having someone moving the bonnet in an open and close motion. If it's a 2002 or later model....makes sure the release latch it in the pull position the have someone try to yank open the bonnet....it's better to repair a bent hook/lever than to cut the entire bonnet off.

Best of luck,
Romone.

Broken latch cable for bonnet

you don't have many options right now, here is what you can try.

if the cable broke on the dash end, try to removing the release latch from the dash and grab the remaining part of the cable with locking pliers.

if the cable broke at the hood latch end. you will need to pry the latch open in the same direction that the cable release operates.
this might be possible with a long flat screw driver with the grill in place. to accomplish this try finding photos of the latch online to see how the mechanism operates. there will be two levers one with the cable attached the other is the safety. the cable lever needs to be released for the hood to open

Broken Hood Release

Hello There

In short no there isn't, however it's most likely your plastic release lever is broken and not the metal cable, you need to open the cover over the release lever, there will be a cable you can pull using a gripper and it will release the bonnet, you can easily replace the plastic llever and it's reletively cheap.

Hope this helps, please don't forget to rate me.
