Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I'm running Vista Home premium on an HP Box with a Nvidia GeoForce 8400 GS video card. Worked great for about 7 months and now I keep losing the video with a "no signal" error on the screen after a few minutes of having it work. When I reboot it typically comes back with terrible resolution and color indicating that the driver status is "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (code 43)" I've ran every Windows update and auto find driver change which fixes it after reboot for about 5 minutes. I've also tried the driver pack from NVidia's site with the same results. Help?????

Uninstall the video card from Device Manager,Re-install but do not use the old drivers which I fear have become corrupted.Download new drivers from the Manufacturer.Make sure there are the correct drivers for your Card no associates the real deal.

Hi.... my graphics card is Geforce Nvidia GS 8400. I had been played FIFA 11 in win 7 wih this graphics card.....before 2 days. but now, when i open fifa11 it can't working properly........(THE PROBLEM...

the drivers might not be installed correctly you might have to uninstall the graphics card restart your computer then reinstall thye graphics card and its drivers

If your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it

Click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to display adapters + to expand you might see a yellow question mark ? or exclamation mark ! or a red x right click select reinstall drivers or you might need to download one

cnetdownload.com on the home page you should see the download software finder under that there will be a list platform, category sub category price from the category drop down list select drivers then from the price drop down list select free or which ever applies to your need or major geeks download this graphics driver this will depend on your operating system
http://download.cnet.com/%7Bvalue=http://www.download.com/windows-7-professional/3000-18513_4-10906772.html Windows 7 is more than what Vista should have been, it's where Microsoft needed to go. How much damage Vista did and whether Windows 7 is enough for people to finally abandon Windows XP are questions that nobody has the answers to right now.

I have an old Princeton VL 173 that I had been using with an old computer running Windows XP Pro. It works fine. Got a computer with an Asus MB and a Intel Core 2 Quad running Windows 7 Home Premium...

It sounds like a driver/software issue. When you ran the Princeton VL173 on XP you probably had all the correct software for your video card and the correct drivers to support your video output. When you changes OS to Windows 7, the XP drivers are no longer in place. My best guess is that you need to find and install the correct drivers for your system video and for your video card that are Windows 7 compatible. The old XP drivers will not work in Windows 7.

I am running XP with a Princeton VL173. It works great. I identified the correct video drivers for my system and installed them. My video card is nVidia 8800GT. I downloaded and installed the latest software from nVidia and installed it. It runs like a champ.

Several months ago my display died. It was just blank -- black. I tried using a power supply (AC adapter) from an old HP printer that died, and it worked! The plugs were identical, and the power output profiles were very nearly identical. It has been rinnung great for many months now.

I hope this helps.

Just installed two new monitors. Have ge force 8400 gs card. Windows 7. I can see both screens, but they are acting as two single screens. mouse won't move from screen to screen.

It sounds like you have the monitors setup as mirrored monitors instead of an extended desktop.

When in the display properties of windows click the monitor you want to have as the extended desktop and you should see a check box for extend monitor to this screen.

Tried to install pci 8400 gs video card.

uninstall all Nvidia drivers, restart your computer, reinstall the drivers. I have also ran into issues with these card before where you have to change the resolution by right clicking the desktop and selct properties. Other times you have to use the nvidia software for this type of change.

I have a geforce 8400 gs pci interface. the card work ok but when i shut down my pc,it restarts it instead of shuting it down. whats the problem?

Hello gabini248,
Disabling "restart on system failure" may fix the problem: Right-click on My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab. Under “Startup & Recovery,” click Settings. Under “System Failure,” uncheck the box at “Automatically restart.” You may have to restart your PC for the effects to take place.
