Hi. my 30gb video ipod will not be recognized by either my macbook pro or my itunes. on top of that when not plugged in it goes to the black apple logo screen and then gives me a white page that says "connect to your computer. use itunes to restore." how can i restore if it is not recognized? when i do plug it in the ipod shows a do not disconnect and charging symbol but it is in black and white and has no response. it is like my ipod is set back to 1st or 2nd generation. please help!!! thank you.

I assume the unlocking your ipod is the combination that locks the screen and not the little white tab on the top of the iPod. By plugging the iPod into itunes it should unlock it. By restoring your iPod you erase the lock but also your music. If may stay unlocked when you remove it from the computer. Good luck.
Try this: turn off your ipod, hold the home button, and plug it into
itunes while still holding the home button until a picture of the itunes symbol
appears with a cable under it. itunes should say "ipod found in restore
mode". This will completely reset your ipod, hopefully fixing any bugs or problems in it. also, you will lose all data saved on the ipod that isn't also backed up by itunes. Music, pictures, and video can be re-synced.
