I'll do my best to help.
Check that you have installed all updates from microsoft, including service pack updates. Some time ago, there was a hotfix from MS that was intended to correct this problem. After you've installed all updates to your system, give it another try to install the driver.
When you download the driver from Dell's website, you had to choose a location to store the driver file(s). If you don't remember where that location is, you can use Windows search to find it if you can remember part of the filename. Otherwise, download the driver again and see where windows tries to save it by default. It might show you exactly where the driver was saved the last time. If so, then cancel the download and make a note of where the file is.
When you locate the file, you'll need to run the executable so that the driver gets installed before you connect the printer. The installation process will extract the files and put them in the proper location. Sometimes simply downloading driver files isn't enough and so you need to run the driver setup utility to expand the compacted files.
Installation instructions are in the "readme.txt" file included with the driver.

Copy and paste into browser if you need to. The above link will get you to the proper location. You just need to on the right provide model or on left look on printer and type in service tag #. This will get you the right drive.

Normally this printer s meant to print labels.
To have them work as line printers there is only one thing to do. Start the printer while pressing on the button. When it starts feedingthe paper release the button. After printing the configuration it will act as a line printer. But the best way to use it as a receipt printer is to create a program which will send the information to the printer through a windows driver if your software can do that
