My 5G 80 gig ipod keeps restarting on its own. Its up to maybe every 30 seconds now it was ony every hour or so. Now it never leaves the gray apple screen and you can hear the physical click in it and it just restarts. The Menu+Select restart dont work and neither does plugging it into a power source.

Press the center button and the play button together. This will enter disk mode, then connect it to the computer for a restore.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Have you tried resetting it? Try holding down the menu and middle buttons at the same time and the ipod should reset itself. Also check and see if the hold switch is on. You need to make sure that it is off in order for the buttons to work.

Ipod froze

Toggle the hold switch.
Press and hold the Play and Menu buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds. This will restart the iPod OS.

Ipod's Hardrive just keep spinnign and won't restart

The 30 GB iPod's had a Hitachi HD, which seems to have hit and miss problems. The 60 GB's were Toshiba HD, which were much more reliable. The iPod touch went flash based, which is the most reliable so far. If it has warranty, let apple worry about it, then do what ever you want once it's fixed.

Ipod 8 gb nano froze

Plug it into your computer and use the link in itunes to restore your ipod. This will usually work. If it doesn't, then it is time to contact Apple support to cover your warranty, or take it back to the store.
