Unfortunately the phone system will not work until the phone lines are repaired, but what you could do is contact your local phone company by cell phone and explain the situation to them and see if they can speed up the repairs. Good Luck to you and your Mom.

My at&t phone system is intermittently having line noise, like a crackle when using intercom or outside line. I have checked the lines and the replaced the connectors. any ideas?

I,m guessing that the card your having a problem with is a 206E card. They would get intermitent static on all lines and intercom/page that would come and go.
typically it occours on the first 2 ports of the card but can also migrate to others. Unfortunatly, the problem resides in the card itsself and the only remedy is to replace the card or move the staticy phone port to a new one.

Partner ACS turning on and off on it's own

One of the cards is bad in the unit. Assuming you have a 308 processor and 308 ec card and two cards in the system The 308 ec card has a bad or power supply in the card

When this happens look at the cards lights.

This is nothing you can fix yourself without a Avaya technician.

I cannot make an outside call with a normal SLT.

When you get the programming manual out, look at programming command 400. It tells the system how many lines are conected. If you dial "9" from a PT on the interdcom, you'll see it connects from outside lines top to bottom. If you have no top line (line 3 or line 6), then you tell the system that you have less than 3 or 6 lines and it will select from the lines that exist.

Lines that are not in use are lit up and not accessible. We have very old toshiba phones in our office with 6 lines on them. Line 1 and line 2 are lit up as if someone is on them; however, nobody is using...

You may want to power down your system and restart it. Sounds like CO lines 1&2 are locked up on your RCOU. I would leave the power off for about 20 seconds and then power it back on. It also want be a verizon problem. If i had to guess you have a voicmail on this system that is holding up two of your lines.

Talkswitch 480 VS no longer shows caller ID Simply "out of area".Can this be repaired?

Call Talkswitch, they will offer a swap for another system and bill you $500 to do so. This happened to me twice. First swap was $250. A year later it is now $500. I was told this increase was due the end of the system life and a shortage on parts. My system is just about 4 years old. My next system will have telephone line surge supperssors inline with the telephone lines.

Lucent Partner Mail VS - need cordless phone

Each of the modular jacks at the cabinet will accept a single line telephone. I don't think you can "bridge" a phone on 12 year old software, but if there is a spare jack, it will work with a plain old cordless phone. Plug one in, dial 10, and read what extension you have. Here's a manual for a 4.1 Partner system to help you program the ringing. Programming is done from the display phone at extension 10 or 11.

After you find the extension, save yourself the trouble and go to page 447 of the attached pdf. It details how to set the Automatic line preference and ringing of the cordless. The difference is that you will select your lines AFTER the intercom as in ** LIC RIC 1 2 3 4, or 4 3 2 1. This is important! You'll then be able to dial "9" to get an outside line in forward or reverse order and still call internally.

If you find you don't get an outside line when you dial "9", then keep reading the manual, you need to put your lines in groups.

Line 4 doesn't ring in coming call

The way 4 line phones work is that you need 4 lines on every jack that is connected to your phone.
You see the light probably because one of the phones has line conected and you see line appearance.
