I have a Sony Bravia projector model # VPL-AW15 and I cant find a replacement bulb for it. The bulb is 165 watt serial number HSCR165Y11H.

check the fans ,
check the cover of the lamp,
there is a siwtch under the cover of the lamp
make sure the switch is on the right place

Here i have added the link to the manual of Your projector. Downlaod the manual and reffer page no 55 to 58 Which discribe how to repalace the air filter. You can clean the air filter and refix the same. If you need to replace the air filter with a new one the you have to contact sony authorised servicing centre for new one. Lamp cover is located at bottom of projector, loosen its screw and take off lamp cover. Process is also written in user manual page-56 with exploded views. Click Sony Support link to download user manual copy, check page-56 to have better idea.
