Question about Soyo DYLT032D 32 in. LCD Television

TV volume increases by itself and doesn't decrease or respond to the remote control

My philips TV volume just suddenly while watching TV increases by itself up to 100 (the highest) and when you try to use the remote control to reduce the volume, it doesn't respond at all. So I switch it off from the mains and switch it on again. Sometimes, it comes on and is normal, sometimes, it still stays up. In fact, you can see the blue light flashing as though someone is using the control to increase the volume. If you leave it for a while, the light may stop flashing and you can reduce the volume with the control. Other times, no matter what you do, it's uncontrollable with the control. Please note that the only part of the TV affected is the volume.
I'd be VERY grateful for some help! the volume goes up by itself and stays at maximum and will not stay down. the tv is out of warranty by one day and parts are not available. is there any way i can use a home theater speaker system to control the sound? it has nothing to do with the remote. condello@mts.net i am in canada
thank you ruth

I have exactly the same problem. The first abnormal behavior is increasing of volume to its maximum and then the remote . Evcontrol loses its control on tv. The green light on the tv keeps flashing. If it stabilizes we get the control through remote back, else till the green light is flashing, i cant remote-control the tv. Even the buttons on the side of tv behave abnormally. The volume button would change the menu ..etc..

I thing i have noticed is, probably it has something to do with some power fluctuations, it seems. If i connect the tv to soem other power outlet or using a separate spike burster, the problem doesnt appear...not 100% sure, though !

I have exactly the same problem. The volume increases on its own, sometimes up to maximum. The remote does not always control the TV, it seems to be intermittent. The volume is behaving itself at the moment, but it is not working properly with the remote. I'm getting an engineer to come and have a look at it on Tues, so fingers crossed.

We have a Philips 37" tv and it's doing the exact same thing. The volume is pegged at 100 and I can't get it down. We've already fixed this tv once for a video problem and I don't know if i want to throw anymore money at it.

The volume control works to decrease volume but is very difficult when trying to increase volume

This may be an issue with the button itself getting caught on the plastic bezel of the remote. Sometimes this happens when the remote is dropped or the plastic bezel is nicked.
My recommendation is to reprogram the device you are trying to control the volume of. This issue may occur when the incorrect IR code is programmed into the remote. Some IR codes may work intermittently and as rolling codes. Check the program and respond if problems persist.

i think that there is a shorted buttons or in normally close position, try to press each buttons slowly and you will feel something that is ticking if one of the buttons does not tick it is damage it is in normally close position that will be the cause of the problem. specially check the volume button.

The cause of the problem is that the switch of your tv is dirty when cleaning it you must be familiar to the unit and the parts you will remove to prevent any damage you can use a contact cleaner, when applying a contact cleaner you must only spray it to the switch. Consult a expert technician to do it for you actual.

We cannot increase or decrease the sound. There does not appear to be a volume control on the set and it does not respond to the remote. The remote is working in all other respects.

Make sure the speakers are turned on in the audio menu. Usually when the speakers are turned off the set goes into a fixed sound level at the audio output jacks. These jacks are used for external amplifiers, etc. Hope this helps. Thanks
