How do i activate microphone

go to control panel, see the icon sound, open it, and see the microphones and follow the steps, use the utility troubleshooting. and fix it.

do you use any programs like skype / voip? Then in some case you have to configure the audio setting to work with your microphone. users manual can give you more knowledge. here is the link.

Hi, the HP Compaq Presario 2200 PC has no built in or internal microphone. You will have to purchase an external one to record audio. The microphone jack, when viewing the laptop from the front, is located on the left side.

There are small round holes which are jack ports. From the front to the back, the microphone port to plug in a microphone is the second hole back. Here is a manual in case you need more help with your laptop: Click Here.

You may need to increase the microphone level, it may be set too low.

the steps u can try is 
1. go to start->control panel->sound and audio devices->double click on it and then go to the voice tab->in the voice tab click on to volume button and click on to the options tab and then go to properties and after that in the mixer device select the first option or check the recordings options then check all of the options in the list then click ok you will get a new window which give you the option of unmuting the microphone.
