The cord has been damaged, how do I replace a new one, what parts have to be dismantled to get to the inside of the cleaner

Remove the wheels then you can see the screws not easy to remove the wheels they just pull of

How to repair


A wire might have come loose inside the Vacuum head.

Isolate your power supply from the mains switchboard.
Switch off and Unplug your appliance from the wall socket before attempting any repairs.

Remove/Dismantle the Vacuum head and locate the wires.
Check the wires at the terminals and at pinch points

Check your power cord and power supply, check the plug is clean and free from corrosion or dirt.
Plug another appliance into the same socket to check there is power at the socket.

If its still under warranty, take it back to the store or manufacturer for replacement.

Disconnect flexible cord from power supply.
Check cord along the whole length for obvious damage

How do I replace the power cord on an electrolux 8502A vacuum cleaner?


1 Unplug the vacuum and remove all accessories such as extensions and brushes. Open the vacuum's outer casing to get at the end of the power cord. Exactly how you will do this depends on the model of vacuum. Generally it simply involves the removal of two to three Phillips-head screws.
2 Follow the power cord to the two connections at the vacuum's motor. Unfasten any clips or holding bracket and disconnect the cord from the motor. Sometimes this can be accomplished by unscrewing two connection screws, other times the cord is soldered directly to the motor. If this is the case use wire cutters and cut the cord about 4 inches from the motor to give room for splicing on a new cord.
3 Insert the new power cord into the vacuum. Follow the exact same path as the old one. If there were any brackets or clips that held the old cord in place inside the vacuum or out use them on the new cord.
4 Tie a knot in the cord on the inside of the vacuum casing so that it will not accidentally be pulled out of the motor once it is in use.
5 Connect the new cord to the motor in the same fashion as the old one. With wire strippers take off about 1 inch of insulation from the new cord to expose the two wires. Either wrap them around the connection posts and re-screw, or twist the new cord wires around the 4-inch remnants of the old cord and seal all exposed wire and connections with electrical tape.
6 Replace the vacuum's casing in reverse order from how you removed it. Plug in the vacuum to test.

it easy to adjust the roll back of vacuums the problem is hard to dismantle the unit to remove all the things to see the adjustment roll,all vacuums is need to remove all screw to open the unit even to replace the small parts like switch,and sometimes we cannot adjust the roll back if the spring is worn out we need to replace the new one,for me much better call and service technician for your comfortable and practically to not damage the other plastic part of the unit.and you get a warranty service for that one.

How to replace electrical cord on Dyson ball vacuum cleaner. Our puppy chewed it.


Depending on where it has been chewed, you may not need to replace the whole of your cord. Ask your local electrical supplier, or possibly somewhere like B & Q, if they have an 'inline' plug and socket to repair your existing cord.this would resemble the type of plug and socket used to connectd the power chord to a lawnmower, except you would not be buying the sealed type.Then you could simply cut out the chewed part of your ccord, and fit the two new ends, one the plug and the other the socket.It is no more difficlt than fitting a new domestic 13 amp plug on a cable.It is also a safe but much cheaper solution, so you should save money too.

If you are refering to the Electrical Power Cord? Yes, this can be easily replaced or repaired.
Depending upon where the cord is damaged, you can either cut it a little shorter and install a replacement electrical plug end (available at any electrical parts store (Lowes, Home Depot, Radio Shack, etc) for about $2.50.
Or if the cord is damaged near the vacuum, you can purchase another cord or even make up one yourself how ever long you want it within reason.

Broken electrical cord


The belt can e replaced but I recommend you should take it to your local vacuum cleaner service center. They may even be able to fit a new plug on the end for you if the damage is at the plug end.

I have a d4c rainbow vacuum, need help replacing the electrical cord


There is no reset button, but some of those old switches are very touchy . . . if there was some  corrosion, you may not have a good contact (was enough of the new wire insulation stripped away, before putting it into the switch) . . . 
I prefer splicing, rather than going all the way to the switch  . . its just a matter of cutting out the old cord and splicing in the new cord in a convenient spot up in the motor compartment. . . a Rainbow purist would run the new cord all the way up into the power on/off rocker switch that's built into the top of the handle and then wire the new cord in there, directly at the switch . . . that way means no splicing . . . I've done it both ways, but I prefer to splice and use wire connectors inside the motor compartment . . . because going further, all the way up directly into the on/off switch just to avoid splicing the new cord in requires taking more things apart . . . and risks screwing up the power switch . . . that's not worth the extra time and trouble, IMHO.  (This from someone who has dismantled and refurbished over 200 D4C and SE models)
