What you need is a WEP encription on your router.

If you will give me the make and model number of your router, I can give you step by step directions on how to do it.

Sorry about that - it says you have a Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO

So, In the manual, located here, if you look starting on page 57 it shows you how to setup WPA2/WEP.

I would recommend WPA2 over WEP...for better security and easier setup

WRT120N Linksys router will not connect to Vizio Wireless Blue Ray Player. Need to lower the security to connect to Blue Ray Player.

If anything it's the other way around; the blue ray player needs to connect to the wireless router / access point. Can the blue ray player be configured to work with a WEP/WPA/WPA2 secured network? Check the owner manual or go through the setup menus to see if there's a way to set up a new wireless network and configure the password for your wireless network on the blueray player. The other thing to check is to see if the router is filtering based on MAC address. You can probably disable that feature without losing much security since MAC addresses are easily spoofed.

My kids pressed the logo button on front panel of linksys wireless. I can connect back to internet but lost my security. How to get back?

Hi shelltiki,

Setting up a password for your rotuer make it the wireless connection secure from others. For you to make the wireless connection secure you need to access the router page just open a browser then type the username is blank and the password is admin. go to the wireless settings page, Select Either WEP, WPA or WPA2 as the security type to make it secure then personalize your Network Key or Passphrase to make it secure. Connect your computer then if prompt to enter a password enter your Network Key.

Rate me if this will help you so that i can help other people.

Thanks for using Fixya.

We have a Zyair B-3000 wireless network. With our older Notebooks (XP or Vista) the wireless communication is no problem but with newer computers I can't establish a wireless connection (e.g. HP Pavilion...

To trace the problem, I would first temporarily turn off security on the ZyAir B-3000 and see if you can connect with the iPad and the HP.

To do this login to the ZyAir. If you still have it set to factory settings you would login by clicking here: then type the password which is 1234. The find the wireless security screen and turn off WEP security. By the way, If you still have factory password, I would change that soon.

Here is the users manual with more details:

After turning off all security, try and connect from the two systems that cannot connect. If you can then the problem most likely has something to do with wireless security. Now with the security still off try and connect with the other 2. If all 4 can connect without security turned on it is probably a wireless security issue. You could try changing from WEP to WPA security and see if all 4 can connect. You do not want to run your wireless router without security so make sure you turn the security back on..

I say most likely it is security, because maybe there are some settings that might be blocking the iPad and HP from connecting. Maybe the router is set to only allow two connections, or is set to allow specifc MAC addresses of the two older computers. Look around the configuration firmware in the ZyAir and see if there are any settings that would limit how many can connect wirelessly, or limit specific systems to specific MAC addresses.

After spending too much time on this and it still doesn't work, then you might consider doing a factory reset. Beware that a factory reset will wipe out all the configuration on the ZyAir and you will have to reconfigure. Instructions to factory reset are in the users manual link above, but basically you hold the side RESET button for 10 seconds, it will restart and you don't touch it till it is done resetting. If you do decide to do the factory reset, then right after resetting and before setting up security on the ZyAir I would try and connect all 4 systems at once. If that works then configure the ZyAir with security.

When I opened the available connections I noticed that there were three other networks listed as available. It seems that people around my house have been logging into my network. How do I stop this

you can see 3 other networks in the list. that means there are 3 more wireless networks in your area. your neighbor might be having wireless router and you are abl to see their wireless networks.
This is the list of available wireless networks that your computer can see and connect to.
If your wireless network is not secured then make sure that you will put password on your wireless network.

When i make the router secure, only one computer is able to connect. the other just says 'local only' even though the key is correct and theres full wireless signal.

You need to confirm the wireless profile on the computer that is not connecting is totally correct, and that the wireless adapter is turned on. To the extent that you erase all profiles for that computer and start over.

If you have wireless broadcast turned on in the router, all computers should see the router regardless, they just won't connect. You select the router, and then build a profile around the selected router.

My toshiba a15-s129 wireless internet is not working all of a sudden, It connects manually (through cord) but cannot connect to wifi. It does however found a wireless just doesnt connect. I have tried...

many symptoms can be at fault here first check the device drivers of the wireless card on your computer next check the security of the network where you connect to. You need a valid key for web security or others, also laptops have a switch or FN key that activates and deactivates wireless cards on some systems check that as well and if all fails check the settings on the router that your connecting to. is there enough ips to go around from the DHCP server that your router is giving out.

Can't get a wireless connection from my Linksys WRT54GC router

I think you have the router setup to not broadcast the SSID. Go to your router settings to change this option. By not broadcasting, it enhances security for your wireless network, because it looks like there's no network. I hope this helps!

Random wrong passwords

Any router that your connecting to wireless, without a password, does not have wireless security set up on the router.

Any other wireless router that you are trying to connect to that does not allow you to connect wireless, has wireless security set up and that same security must be set up on the wireless device (like laptop or desktop, whatever is not connected via ethernet cable.).

Reply back what you find and I will be glad to help more.
