What you need is a WEP encription on your router.

If you will give me the make and model number of your router, I can give you step by step directions on how to do it.

Sorry about that - it says you have a Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO

So, In the manual, located here, if you look starting on page 57 it shows you how to setup WPA2/WEP.

I would recommend WPA2 over WEP...for better security and easier setup

How do i unlock my d link

The first thing you should do upon completing a wireless connection with a D-Link router is to set up wireless security by accessing the router settings. This protects you against computer hackers trying to gain access to your bandwidth to commit fraud against you or others. It also restricts access away from those who live around you that would rather use your bandwidth instead of paying for their own. Unauthorized users can drastically slow your network speed.

1.Enter the IP address for the D-Link router into a web browser. The default address is 192.168.0.1. This address is typically located underneath the router. Load the page to access the login details.

2.Enter the login details. Refer to your records if necessary. The user name is usually "admin." Enter in your password. A blank password is the default. Load the page to access the router settings. Note: It's important to set a password, if you haven't already done so.

3.Click on the "Set Up" hyperlink and then click on the "Wireless Settings" hyperlink.

4.Scroll down until you see "Wireless Security Mode" and select your desired level of security from the drop-down. The type of security you select depends on the electronic equipment you want to connect to your network and the level of security you want to enable. See Resources for details on the different types of security available. If you are still unsure, WEP offers a decent level of security and works with almost all Wi-Fi enabled components like mobile phones, gaming equipment and laptops.

5.Enter in your desired password into the "Password" field and then enter in the password a second time in the "Re-Enter Password" field. Select "Save Setting" to enable wireless security on your D-Link Router.

WRT120N Linksys router will not connect to Vizio Wireless Blue Ray Player. Need to lower the security to connect to Blue Ray Player.

If anything it's the other way around; the blue ray player needs to connect to the wireless router / access point. Can the blue ray player be configured to work with a WEP/WPA/WPA2 secured network? Check the owner manual or go through the setup menus to see if there's a way to set up a new wireless network and configure the password for your wireless network on the blueray player. The other thing to check is to see if the router is filtering based on MAC address. You can probably disable that feature without losing much security since MAC addresses are easily spoofed.

My kids pressed the logo button on front panel of linksys wireless. I can connect back to internet but lost my security. How to get back?

Hi shelltiki,

Setting up a password for your rotuer make it the wireless connection secure from others. For you to make the wireless connection secure you need to access the router page just open a browser then type http://192.168.1.1. the username is blank and the password is admin. go to the wireless settings page, Select Either WEP, WPA or WPA2 as the security type to make it secure then personalize your Network Key or Passphrase to make it secure. Connect your computer then if prompt to enter a password enter your Network Key.

Rate me if this will help you so that i can help other people.

Thanks for using Fixya.

How are your other computer connected to the wireless router?
Normally to connect to the wireless router the wireless cards in the computers are issued with an IP address from the wireless router and an encryption key (if enabled) and for further wireless security router MAC address filtering.

When i make the router secure, only one computer is able to connect. the other just says 'local only' even though the key is correct and theres full wireless signal.

You need to confirm the wireless profile on the computer that is not connecting is totally correct, and that the wireless adapter is turned on. To the extent that you erase all profiles for that computer and start over.

If you have wireless broadcast turned on in the router, all computers should see the router regardless, they just won't connect. You select the router, and then build a profile around the selected router.

Can't get a wireless connection from my Linksys WRT54GC router

I think you have the router setup to not broadcast the SSID. Go to your router settings to change this option. By not broadcasting, it enhances security for your wireless network, because it looks like there's no network. I hope this helps!

Ipod touch won't connect even after disabling security

Whenever yo connect a new wireless device to your exhisting network, you have to do 2 things, before it will work, aside fron the settings on the phone itself, you need to set the ecryption code and key to the same as the rest of your wireless devices
The key is goning to say wep1 or wep2, and the key can be anything 10 digits or combination there of as long as they are all the same. If you really messed it up, call apple and they will help you for free. My friend did it one day when he messed his up and I was not around. He was on the phone for 45 minutes with them and they were nice as can be to him. Also you can start fresh, by resitting the router "push the little reset button, then go to the wireless portion of the routers setup page, 192.168.1.1, and set all of your wireless devices to the same key and code type. There are also different channels that you can select like channel 6, on the router. Go slow and you will get it, it's not that hard, just remember to rate me if I helped you, thanks

Belkin Modem Router not connecting to desktop

The wireless security on your router might be enabled.

1. In the address bar of your Internet browser, type "192.168.2.1". Then press the "Enter" key.

2. It will prompt for a password to access the Router’s Web-Based Advanced User Interface. By default the password is blank.

3. Go to Security, then Wireless.
- Check the wireless security settings, this should match the settings on your wireless computer.

4. On the wireless computer, you should detect SSID and if wireless security is enabled, connect to it with the correct security keys.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
