My sound on my computer don't work

What kind of computer are we dealing here?

Is it a laptop or a desktop? Here are the things that you need to check:

1. Make sure that the volume control is all the way up and it's not muted.
2. Check if the drivers are working.
3. If it used to work, then you can do a system restore .. Click on Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Select a restoration point > Launch it. Let it restart by itself.

You can also use RadarSync to scan your computer for outdated driver. The good thing about this software is that it won't only fix the outdated sound drivers but it will fix all outdated drivers which might be affecting the sound of your computer.

I hope this helps!

My computer has no sound device detected

The computer could be having some problems with its driver which is responsible for making the system to communicate with its sound card. There are two ways that you can do to make it work. You can do a system restore (restoring the computer to known good date) and by downloading the updated sound driver which you can get from the website of your computer's manufacturer.

System Restore

1. Click on start or the pearl button>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore
2. A window will open up. Select the date when your computer was still working fine.
3. Follow the instructions that will appear on the screen and let it finish until it will tell you that the restoration is complete.

Note: System restore won't affect the files and documents that you have saved in your computer. But, it will remove the programs and updates which happened after the restoration date that you will be selecting. Updates and changes in the computer's programs sometimes are the reasons for some corruptions in the system.

Driver Update or Installation

Go to the website of your computer's manufacturer. Then, look for support and downloads. Select drivers or drivers and downloads. Put in the model of your computer and look for the sound driver. Install it.

If you still have some problems right after doing the above mentioned steps, then message me. Just post your message here.

Thank you for using fixya.com.

Please help me restore my toshiba laptop to factory defult

In order to restore your toshiba, you will need the restore disks that were included or that you created when you bought the laptop. Make sure all your documents and personal data is backed up because once you start the restoration everything will be lost. The computer will be exactly as you purchased it from the store.

Insert the first restore CD/DVD into the laptop and restart the computer. It should automatically load but if it doesn't, let me know and I'll talk you through how to get the computer to load from your CD Rom first.

My laptop start very slow and no audio

Possible that some of the files are corrupt or removed off with a virus in the system. you will need to reinstall the OS if the restoration to an earlier date will not improve.
Now reinstall the sound card drivers which also could have lost with the virus.

Loss of sound!

You probably uninstalled the drivers for your sound card.

If you know the soundcard model you can download the drivers from the internet or use the drivers CD you got with the computer.

You can also use system restore to restore the computer to date when it was working.

To use System Restore to restore Windows XP to a previous state, follow these steps:
  1. Log on to Windows as Administrator.
  2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
  3. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.
  4. On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system restore point in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next.

Note A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.
  5. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.
  6. Log on to the computer as Administrator. The System Restore Restoration Complete page is displayed.
  7. Click OK.
If you successfully restored your computer to a previous state, and the computer is performing as it should be, you are finished.

How do i use the restoration disks to fix my computer (restore it)

What you will want to do is find the First Restoration Disk and put it into the CD/DVD drive and restart the computer. When the Computer starts you will want to start the computer from the CD/DVD drive, and follow the directions that are on the screen to use the disks. Please remember every time when doing this Back-up everything you want to keep from being lost!!! Even more so now that you are restoring the computer, there are times that the restoration disks will not allow you the option of repairing the installation and go straight to Complete Factory Defaults.

I reinstalled windows in Toshiba laptop model PSL30L-00M019, but sound is not working.

You simply missed out one step. You forgot to run your Restore cd prior to reformation of your HDD and installation of OS. Now you have two options: visit Toshiba web site for the appropriate sound driver installation(may not work) or using your Restore disk on your already running system. When completed it will prompt for the OS. This will certainly fix the problem. However, if both fail, then get either a headphone or computer speaker and plug into the system's audio connector(usually at the front of the Laptop). If it emist sound, then the internal speakers are gone and should be replaced. Good luck
