Connection problems with new Dlink Wir...

As I work through the installation, the program is coming up with Error 103 - internet connection not verified. I don't know whether it may have something to do with disabling the firewall (which I am not sure I have or how to disable). I have had a computer whiz try to set up the router to no avail, he thought it could have been the broadband modem that I have through Optus may not direct the internet through a secondary device to the PC but only directly. I checked this with Optus and apparently there shouldn't be a problem there.
