Hi rodamo, thanks for answering. I'm a bit of a novice at this, does that mean if I get a new DVD burner it will fix the problem or not. I was having trouble with my old DVD burner, or is a ROM reader something different. Sorry to sound so stupid. Cheers jojo555

After variety of different tests and findings I have resolved this issue. It appears that the DVD burner was not in good working order and the DVD player was not at fault. Thanks you to all who answered and responded to my problem. Many thanks.
Use NERO or ANYDVD software to burn them as a "DVD" and not just a copy paste as that will not work for dvd players.
Also if you can find a "region free hack" for your regular dvd player use it. most are quite simple to do and it means it wont reject a dvd that is meant for another country .
Are you using DVD+R or DVD-R to burn the movies to? DVD+R is what you want to burn movies to for best quality and DVD-Rs are for like pictures and documents etc (even though you can also burn those to a DVD+R). Secondly, most movies that burn are played back in MP3 format, make sure your dvd playing is capable of playing MP3s.
What exactally do you mean by you bought 2 different types of blank videos?
I would say that as with many manufacturers, the Bose 3-2-1 is meant to play Dual Layer DVDs. Since they hold data on 2 separate layers of the disc, these hold twice the amount of data than the Dvd+r or -r that you're using. When the Bose system tries to read the 2 layers and only finds one it, will not recognize the dvd. If you don't have a Dual-Layer burner and Dual Layer discs to burn to, you should upgrade your burning equipment. They're not that expensive these days. Cheers!
I have a cyberhome dvd player CH- DVD 300 had it for a 1 year i but in a orginal dvd movie and it does play it it said no disc I but in dvd cleaner it read for a moment but when i put in the orginal movie it said no disc again is it the sensor or what, what should i do???
Read here and we can see that other people have both trouble and success running back ups on this device:
So... That tells us this device is finicky IE it requires a high quality burn.
DVD burners have varying levels of accuracy. To improve your burn:
-SLOW the burn speed for increased accuracy
-USE DVD-R only as it is the most compatible
-Use those Sony's DVD-r's at wal-mart or KMART because Sony makes DVR's and everyone else buys them from generic Taiwan manufacturer and relabel
I bet this will solve your problem. After you get a successful burn at 2x try 4x then 6 etc.
