Pick up an inexpensive 9 volt convertor at radio shack or similar retail electronics store you have there. It sounds to me the your power adapter went bad. Make sure you ask to person at the store to test your adapter for you. If there is a radio shack or similar store they will be able to test it for you. There is an old school way to test it but I can not officially tell you to try it, but some people touch the tip of the adapter to there tongue. It is only 9 volts so you should feel a light tingle on your tongue the same as when you touch your tongue to the tips of a square 9 volt battery to see if there is power. If there is no tingle the adapter must be replaced. I'm not telling you to do that, that is just how some people do it to test for power without a meter.

The line connection from battery to the circuit board to switch on the radio receiver.Need to clean and resoldering works.Cold solder issues - each component is soldered into small holes on the printed circuit board which in turn connects said component to the other components. Due to time, heat, use, some solder joints would be cracked or loose. It is possible that the cold solder is still minimally connected (hanging by a thread). When the receiver turns on heat would be generated which would be sufficient to further loosen up the solder joint to the point it no longer provides electrical contact. Jarring the unit creates movement inside enough to re establish the contact, sometime good enough sometimes not enough.

Again, since the unit still operates (sometimes) then it is highly probable that there are no defective components. As you have surmised, it is possibly a loose connection, solder joints are "connections" except that molten soldering lead is used to attach/connect the component to the board, "loose connection" in this sense is equal to "cold solder".

Again on the assumption of no defective parts, then seeking a more experienced buddy for the soldering might be to your advantage. This is of course in addition to the possible electrical hazards when repairing....If i have helped, please click to rate.It is the only way i get paid for my work...

Hi,

Pls check the slide switch by opening the casing and checking the continuity using a DVM (continuity tester). Alternately if your particular model uses it, pls check the battery connector. You may have to cut the plastic covering to expose the how the wires (red * black) were soldered underneath. Some models have the spring type battery terminal, you may need to clean/scrape to ensuretight battery contacts.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

If it were just the power problem, then any knowledgeable electronics tech could work on it just as long as the tuning is not compromised/touched, then it should be relatively straight forward.

In some instances, it could just be the led indicator. The led flashes when powered on but will turn steady when connected to its mate microphone.

Good Day,

You can purchase a mic through the manufacturer at this link
http://www.anchoraudio.com/access_details.cfm?PART=MIC-90

Here is a list of other accesories
http://www.anchoraudio.com/product.cfm?CATEGORY=LIBERTY+SOUND+SYSTEM+PACKAGES&prodname=Liberty&ACCESSORYF=LIBERTY

Just a FYI the mic used on your system is standard 1/4" plug so you can purchase a mic at any music or electronic shop and it will work.

Hope this helps, and remeber to rate the solution

How can I connect a microphone to yamaha rx v692

If your trying to have a PA sytem with these unit, you need to have a

separate mic mixer.

But if your trying to setup a Videoke Sing-along System , just connect

the Mic to the player Mic Input.

But if you need and feel to DIY, there is another option

and only if you can.

Where did you plug the Mic ?. Most receivers do not have Mic input. Only some DVD players with karaoke have a MIc input in front. The phones socket in front of the Receiver is meant for headphones.

How to connect microphone to Yamaha RX-V365 as a PA system.

Home-theatre receivers don't have microphone inputs. If you want to use the receiver as an amplifier in PA system, you need to use some kind of mic pre-amp or a mixer with mic inputs.
For PA mixer is needed anyway almost every time and all mixers have at least one mic input (with a pre-amp). Mixers have line-level output(s), which you can connect to the analog input of receiver.
Using receiver as an amp in PA has advantage that you have 5 channel amp. When using high sensitive PA speakers (as oposed to less sensitive Hi-fi home speakers), you can get good performance with the power rating of receiver. You could even use 2 separate channels for subwoofers and 2 channels for satelite speakers - but for that you would need a receiver with 5.1 analog inputs and special device called crossover which would divide the output from mixer into low-frequency signal and high-frequency signal which you would then connect to the front and rear analog inputs. But with RX-V365 you can use only 2 channels with analog input

How to connect mic

Hello

OK, if this specific is capable of a mic input, there should be a input, labeled Mic or Microphone. Once you located the input, you will just need to plug the mic into the receiver.

Hope this can be of help.

Tape loop

You may need to purchase a cheap external mixer with both mic and line inputs, and use that to mix the mic with the DVD audio. In most receivers, you can only select one input at a time. The output of the mixer can then be plugged into any spare receiver input, such as AUX, CD, DVD, etc. When not using Karaoke, you can simply turn the mic input down to prevent it from interfering with the DVD signal, but will still need to have the mixer on to hear DVD's.
