Question about Toshiba Satellite P205-S6287 Notebook PC

1 Answer

I.LINK I'm sorry, but I kinda disagree a little with what you told me. You told me it was kinda out dated and Sony. If that's so, then why is it on a brand new Toshiba computer that just came out? Oh, it also says (IEEE 1394).

Ilink is Sony specific brand of IEEE 1394 connector technology. You will find it in just about everything, from new Dells to gateway etc. What happens with this kind of thing is licensing contracts were signed and commitments made long ago, and sometimes those contracts require that those types of input be made available in exchange for a lower licensing price, so you could see them for years to come, even if all firewaire devices cease to exist, simply because the company has decided the legal hassle of removing them exposes them to too much of a lawsuit danger, so they spend the extra 10 cents per PC to keep it there.

I have a sony laptop . it used to get switched off all of the sudden when i use it for more than 1 hour . so i took it to sony showroom and got it checked ,they told because of the over heating laptop is...

The sudden turn off is a protection that it is supposed to do when the CPU gets to the max allowed temperature...if you changed the heat dispenser and the cooler..the next thing to do is to get an external cooler for laptops..its the only way that you may use it for long perods of time without problems ...The issue is probably the zone that you live on ...(probably a warm place ) ..and the way you use it ...cause they are made to not do that in normal conditions ..
Another thing to check is the settings in BIOS ..just get into the bios and select the factory optimal defaults ...and after that confirm choice and save the changes with F10 ...and enter to confirm and exit..
This will make sure that you do not have a lower level of temperature set as maximum allowed for the CPU..
This is a link for some kinda device I mentioned..(external cooler..)

My computer keep freezing and it sometimes just close my screen and i have to start over again some one told me i might need more memory

Click start button, select "Run", type "msconfig" Press enter.
Click now on Startup tab, untick all the program that loads during system start up.

Scan your PC with a good Antivirus like Kaspersky Internet security 2010 or A-squared Anti-malware with their lastest updates installed.

Malware,Worm,Virus too can caused the problem.

Clean your system for junk files and registry errors.Yamicsoft's WInXP manager is what I recommend.
Here is the link

Note: Microsoft Dotnet framework 2.0 or later is needed in order to install WinXP manager.

Let me know if it's helpful to you.But i somehow disagree with the conclusion addding more system RAM with stop system freezing.I take the idea that it will surely imporve system performance speed but will not solve freezing.

When I turn my V6000 on, I have power lights and the fan starts for 5 secs then shuts off. Nothing appears on the screen!

Sorry to hear about your V6000 problems.
If this problem has just started and all was OK before this happened.!
1. Remove all media from drives.
2. Remove battery and A/C power input.
3. Flip unit over and remove the memory.
4. Disconnect the CMOS battery.
5. Remove the Hard Drive.
6. Flip unit over and Press the Start Button for 30 seconds.
7. Flip unit over again and re-install the Hard Drive, Memory and last, the CMOS battery.
Note ...
8. Reconnect the unit to the A/C input supply voltage.
Leave the battery out for NOW !.
Flip unit and try to start with the Touch Pad Led's. This should bring up Quick Play.
If your unit starts and you here several beeps,
Don’t worry, !! You should be able to access the BIOS screen. You can reset your date and time.
If you are still not able to start unit, drop me a email and I will try some other ideas.
Hope this works for you. !!
Try it, It may work !!

Contact Sony with the purchase date/info & seriel #. They will either replace the disks free or for a nominal charge in most cases. They are the only source to get the recovery disks for your system as purchased. Sorry.

It should be located somewhere on the motherboard wich means pulling the computer completely apart which unless you know what you are doing may be a little difficult for some, but not inpossible.
