That is a network card that has the abililty to automatically adjust it's speed between the old standard of 10MBps network systems all they way to the current 1000MBps, (1Gigabit LAN) network speed. And RJ45 is just a typ of connector that all network cabling uses. It's kind of a double-wide version of a phone plug.

I want to connect a CAT5e Ethernet cable (with or without a RJ45 connector) from a DSL router to an older computer that only has a RJ11 input. This will be used for DSL internet service only -- no...

The only "outputs" from a DSL-router are:
* RJ-11 telephone-jack, only if the router also supports voice-over-IP,
* RJ-45 Ethernet port (always present)

You need to purchase an internal network-card, to create an RJ-45 port on the computer, and then use the CAT-5e cable to make the connection.

How we join it with computer which LAN wire is use state or cross and proceser to joine

Your question is a little confusing ... chain saw networks?

I believe you want to know how to build a wired computer network ...

You will need special tools to do this including a RJ-45 crimp tool. You should use the highest quality ethernet, 'Cat 5', Cat 5e', wire available to you. On the ends you will install RJ-45 connectors (8 conductor 'plugs'. Choose and stick with one of the several color codes for placing the conductors into the RJ-45. Color code guide should come with your special tool. Make sure the ends are in proper order, trimed square and inserted fully into the connector before you crimp. Purchase a test tool to verify your work. Expect to pay $50.00 US or more for the testing tool. Cable, connectors, wire, router or switch and other hardware should be available where communications or electrial supplies are sold.

I have a cable modem that doesn't want to accept the RJ-45 cable (I think that's what it is called.) I've tried several different quality cables with no luck. Strange problem. Any tips?

Some RJ 45 jack cable has fault so try with another RJ 45 jack cable .. Purchase new rj 45 jack cable from nearest computer shop. There must be 2 port on modem 1 for ADSL phone line cable and otthr for LAN ethernet port means RJ 45 jack port. Try with another rj 45 jack cable it should be connect.Make sure that LAN port of modem is not faulty means make sure pins on that port are not break. Let me know if you need further assistance. T636400000 does it have an ethernet card built in the unit?

You are probably looking at a RJ-11, used for telephone (dial up - modem). You are trying to put a RJ-45 connector in it.

The RJ-45 should have 8 wires while the RJ-11 may have as many as 6 connectors.

Thank you for your voluntary work with this organization.

Note: If you were to plug a RJ-11 into a RJ-45 port and if it happened that you plugged the other end of the phone cord (RJ-11) into a phone jack --- and the phone were to ring ... you would be pumping 60 volts into your computer. Be very careful with these connections. You would then need butter and jelly for your toast, which is what your computer would be.

Ok - recap: Both look very similar ...

Ethernet = 8 conductors - RJ-45

Telephone = up to 6 wires (may be 2 or 4 also) - RJ-11. NOT interchangable.

So how will you connect? If the laptop is not builltin wireless, you can get a PCMIA card for the slot on the side that will allow wireless or ethernet. Get the card at your computer store. ... Or ... use the built in modem for dialup., You would of course need a dialup account somewhere.

USB 2.0 to RJ-45 LAN Ethernet Network Adapter driver required

SMC2206USB/ETH Drivers
SMC2208USB_ETH Driver
SMC2209USB/ETH Drivers

If it's an SMC with a little luck you'll find the drivers for your specific model number, Otherwise, go to SMC Site and search for your model number. If it's not an SMC device, let me know what brand and model number it is.

Networking

Well, I would guess that if you are hooked up now, then you have a wireless router. If this is the case then you should have rj-45 (ethernet) ports on the back of it also for lan hook-up also. Must come with atleast 4 LAN ports, 1 WLAN port (for the incoming internet signal from your cable/dsl modem), so if you use a reg. ethernnet cord, then yes you should be fine hooking your ps3 to your network(via ethernet cable to your wireless router from the ps3).
Hope this helps...
