Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

2 Answers

Power off While printing, the printer shut off and computer displayed "printer offline". Unplugged, replugged in the printer, rebooted the computer and still the printer won't restart. AC power to the printer is fine. There was no paper jam. Am using only Canon cartridges. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Canon tech support suggested unplugging printer, then replugging after 15 minutes. If no workie (which it didn't), then unplug and replug after 40 minutes. Well, this didn't help either so Canon said to take it in for probable replacement of the internal power supply--but agreed with me that probably cheaper to get a new printer.

I have a Canon MX310 we are getting the error printer offline, we have repluged in our cables, tried new cables, rebooted the computer, and turn the printer on and off

Error: Printer is offline

Solution: Set printer from Offline to online

For Windows 7, open Devices and Printers

Right click on the Printer icon and click on See what's printing

Click on Printer to open the drop-down menu.

Click on Use Printer Offline to remove the check mark and allow use online.

For other Windows operating systems, see here.

I have an hp C5280 all-in-one printer, and it is shown as offline how can i fix this?

The fact that the printer says it's offline has nothing to do with whether or not you are online (internet) or offline. It just can't communicate with the printer. Have you tried power cycling the printer and your pc?
Assuming it's USB, have you, by chance, unplugged in and replugged in into a different usb port?

My xerox phaser 8550 displays as offline. how do i get it up and ready to print?

First you need to find out why its offline, it could be the printer is off or the connection to the network or computer is unplugged or loose or just a wacky problem when there is a power outage from time to time or you changed some settings and never reboot your computer.

Try going to Start > Printers and Faxes > Right click on the Phaser printer to check the status there and right click > properties >Ports tab > select your printer and then configure port. a port settings window should open which displays the printers name and IP address. You can also find the IP address on the control panel on the printer scroll down to Information > Printer Identification and the IP address and other printer info should be displayed there.

Copy the IP address and paste it in the browsers address bar and check the status of your printer there, check if there are any jobs waiting to print, try clearing all of them, check the status page to see if there are any issues such as low ink, etc.

After running thru trouble shooting options and help menus there if all else fails, restart your printer by powering down, do the same for your computer and restart them both. I've had these issues before and sometimes just a reboot will correct itself.

Printer not communicating with computer

(1) Try a power cycle: Try turning the printer off, then unplug the power supply from the printer, then unplug the USB cable from the printer then the back of the computer; wait 30 second; then plug the USB cable back into the computer, then back into the printer then plug the power supply back into the printer and turn it on – run a test print: Start>Settings>Printers>Right-click on the printer>Properties>Print Test Page

(2) Update the USB drivers

Printer shows offline

your next plan of action should be to let the printer reset its self. Unplug the printer for a few minutes then plug it back in. Turn printer on and try to print something. If this does not work then what i would do is use add remove programs and remove the software and drivers for the printer and re install them again. Read and use the manufactures recomended way of installing your new printer. Start off with printer unplugged and usb unplugged then begin as if you bought it brand new. I cant stress enough how important following the manufactures instructions are.

Yellow error light on, no display

Try plugging the usb into a different computer if new hardware is not found then the printer's hardware is bad. If new hardware is found on the second computer then uninstall and reinstall the printer driver on the first computer.
